Because it's in the red spectrum. Anyone with truly orange hair would look like a freak, just as anyone with truly red hair would. The redhead category contains a wide variety of shades.

The reason i believe is because they dont know what else to call us...they think that ppl with ginger hair will take offense if they call us "ginger" cuz lots of ppl insult that colour of hair for many reasons.

Because our hair is red, not orange. Not Carrot Top, not any off those names. My hair has so many different shades of red in it, you couldn't find them all. Plus it also goes with our tempers.

because would you rather be called carrot or redhead, that is the hair color that your clossest to. the four natural main hair colors are Black-blonde-red-brown

I resent that. I know what you mean though. I dyed mine to make it more brown because it started matching my cats fur. So i see where youre going with this.
