As I have mentioned many times before. ICE.... INS.... whatever they call themselves these days needs to be completely torn down and edified with specific departments with specific job details... They must be held accountable for their work ethics. You for example as a law abiding citizen (hopefully) do not have racist reasons for reporting someone does not even know who to report them too.... This bureaucratic monster of a department does not serve the Public in its work... nor does it serve its purpose in granting work permits for those who have applied.... what good are they? They have the attitude that I will get to them when I get to them not just to the people who they are supposed to serve .... But to the USA citizen who in essence supplies them with that paycheck that they do not earn..... Heads up...... Rebuild this monster of a department while building this wall across the border.

I have a friend who had a similar situation. He came over legally from Europe as a child, but his parents let his papers lapse. He was in the system legally, but his parents kept messing up his paperwork (they had to file since his Mom is a citizen) and he didn't get a greencard until 30. Don't let this happen to you. Make sure your paperwork is in order, one little mistake can set you back years. Keep calling and checking on your status. Make sure you know where your file is and what stage of process it is in. INS is very disorganized. At one point they sent my friend's file to another state and he did not find out for over 2 years, and another time the local office lost his file altogether. Keep on top of it and it will go more quickly. It is a slow process, unless you want to join the military. In that case they will process you quickly.

because you entered this us of a illegally, you may not develop right into a legal citizen without returning to Mexico and petitioning the U. S. government to subject you a visa to immigrate back to the U. S.. i understand you probably did no longer intentionally enter illegally, and that your mom and dad introduced you over once you have been a toddler. that doesn't matter. because you have never been in this us of a legally, there is not any uncomplicated course to citizenship. you may no longer even get your citizenship by marrying a US citizen until eventually you come to Mexico. The truly undesirable information is which you, because you have never been legal here, you heavily isn't eligible for a legal visa to return to the U. S. for 7-10 years once you come to Mexico.

You do seem to have a lot to contribute to this country. You need to see a good attorney and explain your problem ,perhaps he/she can assist you in staying in the US while your papers are being processed.I don't think this is your fault but it does still make you illegal.Try as quickly as possible to rectify this status. In your case perhaps you could ask for a special hard ship case status.but try to get yourself on legal footing.at 18months old you certainly didn't come here illegally on your own.
As a last resort you may have to return to Mexico until your papers are processed.good luck and get legal.

You don't sound like you grew up here. Anyway this is common. Just update your green card and then get a social security card and an ID. After that you apply for citizenship.

well I am surprised they don't process it quicker since you were in the States involuntarily and stayed here for most of your life

I would advise that you learn to use the English language adequately before contacting anyone in regards to your "status".

If you tell me where you are I'll have someone contact you.
