I think the best thing you could do is visualize what you want and then take some time to figure out what tiny steps you can take day to day that lead you to your goals. Perhaps you can find some sort of work opportunity that would suite you, perhaps a work at home something or other to make some cash to travel. Perhaps you could look into what it would take for you to move to a country that you would prefer, find out what steps you need to take.

Sometimes when we truck on day to day with the same routine, it seems like things will go on forever the same way, but life can suprise you and change faster than you know, especially when it comes to the love aspect of life. So be patient and do what you can day to day to realize your goals. Good luck!

By naming your ambition, I think you've already taken the 1st (or 2nd or 3rd) step. At least you're ahead of a huge crowd because you know what you want.

2 things can stand in your way of making these changes: Poor planning and anxiety in the face of the new.

Planning requires a double process: Overarching plan (perhaps a 3-year time frame) and a detailed short-term plan (over the next 3 days to 2 weeks). The overarching plan is set in place at the very beginning and you evaluate it only about every 6 months or so. It includes only large goals (e.g., accumulate 4000 quid in savings within 2 years). The detailed, short-term plan is based on making steady progress toward the long term plan and examined DAILY. By doing so you never lose sight over what you are to achieve on that day (whether small or large steps). (For example, reduce the grocery bill by 5 pounds per week and place savings in a separate savings account or secure a part-time job to increase income.)

The anxiety problem can at least partially be addressed by recognizing you must say good-bye to the things you are leaving behind and welcome the things that are taking their place. I know this sound rather mystical, but the idea is to give your mind a chance to regain its balance with each change that takes place. By attending to both grieving the loss of the comfortable past and embracing the exciting creation of today, you will reduce your entrapment in self-doubt and worry about your ability to succeed.

For example, there is some comfort in living off of disability benefits. However, because it no longer fits with your imagined eventual life, you will need to replace that with something new. I'm in the US, and when someone wants to return to work after living on disability benefits, the Social Security Administration allows them to continue receiving benefits for 6 months to 1 year (at a reduced rate) as they become more and more accustomed to work. After that time, the comfort with employment is firmly established, and the individual can then look to taking the next step.

I recognize this is hard, and progress at times can seem minimal or nonexistent. However, it is important to keep in mind your overarching plan and on occasion look back at all the things you've already accomplished. Within a few weeks you can make enough progress to feel you're making headway toward your eventual goals.

Best of luck. I hope you find yourself many new and exciting avenues to follow.

I don't know your age but i didn't get to finish college till my kids were grown. Both husbands cheated on me and had two head on collisions with my auto. I have brain damage and nerve damage and need meds for both. What you need to learn is to boob and weave. No guarantees in this life take your lemons and make lemon aide. You have to learn to love yourself if you want to attract some one to love you too. If you cant travel go to the Library and rent movies about far away places. Then if you get there you will be familiar with the place. Study a foreign language.Eat lunch out on the plaza at work and meet some new people. Take dance or acting lessons. Watch home improvement shows and craft surroundings that please you. We may be nuts but we don't have to be stupid.

Hello...Stage Fright

Please, please believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams and follow through. I suggest you buy the movie called
"The Secret"
and watch that movie until you have memorized it! You will be amazed what you will learn about yourself if you do.
Go to search in your computer and type in "The Secret" It cost $29.95 to purchase it. Or you can see it on your computer for $4.95 for one time only. But it's better to buy it. Trust me after seeing that movie you will want to fly to the moon.
Trust your free gift from God, it's called Your common sense use it everyday. God loves you and want's you to be happy.
Also remember this:
Positive Attraction Causes Action.
When you wake up in the morning before you get up think about your life and all of your blessings, and don't tell yourself that you don't have any because you do. Everyone does if they choose to see them..It's a choice for all of us. Then stand tall with both feet on the floor and then start your day with thinking Positive Attraction Causes Action and think that all through your day. You will be amazed.
I will give you a simple example. Every time I go out and about to do what ever. There is never a parking place. So one day I got fed up and started to think..... this is ridiculous and I started to think as I drive off to where ever and I quote my thoughts
"Okay God, please hear me. I need a parking place as close to where I need to be, then thank him right then. I then turned my thought to see in my head a parking place. By the time I got where I needed to be. There was my parking place right in front of the building I needed to be in. I do that all the time now. It works and I leanred that from the movie I was telling you about. I saw an attraction that I truned into action.I do it everyday.
If you want to find the love in your life. See her in your heart and mind. Ask God to lead you to her, and then trust him, then thank him. So what ever is stoping you, only you can change. If you need to take medication don't forget to stay on your medication.
I don't need to wish you good luck because I can feel positive blessings going your way right now. Have a nice day.
Love yourself and Love God.
Sincerely J (: (:

Come visit the US.. OK That's not really my answer. Long term goals are great to make BUT studies are showing that few people make it. What is suggested is that you write down your long term goals.... Then make smaller, realistic goals in between now and then. Make sense? For example, your biggest goal is to be on your feet. So make small goals that will help you reach that.

My friend, I don't know anything about your health status, but I can relate to what you say (I'm a 30 yrs old guy suffer of Bipolar disorder).
It's a good thing you've got ambitions! you're on the way out already! you'll achieve whatever you want (ya know, like all normal people that is...fly to mars might be tough..)
I had time's all I wished for was to is go to sleep and never wake up.
Coming back to life isn't easy. Many times I'm discouraged by the fact "I lost few good years of my life": I'm on my second year of uni studies (3 more to go), I live by myself (tough I would happy to find some love), lost many friends who couldn't stand me being crazy, and tough I've got some good friends, non seems to really understand me (my family includes).
I'm on medications for 2 yrs, feeling fine in general, and sure of the progress I've done. I would prefer it was much faster, but that's the way it is.
So keep on going! it sounds you're doing fine. Take it easy, step by step, as you say. Keep aiming high because you deserve no less, but don't judge yourself too much.
Learn about your status. It's important. knowledge is open via the Internet (i myself look up for info and stuff all the time).
When you read about people who have been MUCH lower and treated themselves back to successful life, it gives a great push.
Yeah, traveling sounds great (use to do that - not good when manic...)! living by the beach also, but many people (not only the sick) can't afford that.
Sometimes our health prevents us to travel much. For about a year, though I had a crappy place to live in a and same kind of job, I decided to go to the beach 1 day a week. It was great! nothing like the sea.
So you might not be able to travel around the globe so soon, but I'm sure you can start with some small, nice trips around your area. Same for all other stuff in your life.
Every time I start feeling like as you say, I take some time to think and Chanel that good energy to something I can achieve today or in the next week.
for exmp: I haven't been working for over 2 yrs' but now I feel I can start. Looking at the energetic young students in my class, who take twice more courses & work & got partners & go out, it seems very dippressing, but for me it'll be great to get a job. So i applyed to some progrem via uni who give scolarship to students who work 1 day a week in it.
One other great experience, was to work helping other people. I spent more then a year (other episode in my life) working with autistic youth (my employers didn't know I was sick myself), not that I'm anyhting near Autistic, but I'm sure I was more close to them and it showed as I was getting very good feedback. It's great to be able to help others. It put's you in perspective, makes you feel good whenever you let them achive somting, and in this case these are realy tiny things.
Well, I can lecture for days... ;-)
As your brother, in a way, I whish you all the best! there'll be ups and downs! but the general messege is:
Use this thoughts to achive somthing small but nice!
good luck my friend.
