If so, what are they afraid of? Christians are interested in other religious writings. It helps us to know how others "tick" and can help towards racial harmony. A brief background to "World Religions" can be found in a book by that name by Michael Keene (Lion Access Guides)

No, Muslim people show great interest and favour to people of the book and have done since time immemorial.

You amero-christo maniacs are a peril to the earth.
Learn a little about history and learn a little about other people before you and your crazy notions drag us all into the fiery pit.

You see the words written by other people and you categorically refuse to take them on board. You believe everything your political activist `born again mullahs` tell you, without thought and without intelligence, you are becoming the scariest thing that this planet has ever seen.

You are out of control.

And...
...before you ask, no I am not a Muslim, I was brought up as a Christian, but what I see coming from america is not Christianity, it is something very strange and very scary. You do not have to preach to us, we have been Christian for 2000 years.

From my perspective as a believer in the concepts put forward by Jesus Christ during his ministry on earth, my definition of Christianity, There is a lack of information available generally and particularly to Muslims.
The Qur An with which they are familiar is a much flatter concept than the Bible, by which I mean all of the Qur An has equal weight, however the bible as usually packaged is 90% padding, the Old Testament is some pretty dodgy history which sets the scene and the acts and letters at the end show the disciples slowly losing the plot, but the core differences between
Christianity and Islam are in a small core of verses, Love Thy Neighbour. All Men are Equal. These are Core Christian concepts and are Anti Islam as Islam preaches non believers are at best second class at worst should be killed.
But Christianity predates Islam by many centuries, so Muslims knowingly adopted an anti Christian stance when the founded their religion.
However whilst the Schools Curriculum continues to highlight similarities instead of biting the bullet and admitting that forgiveness, turning the other cheek, equalities etc are all Anti Muslim and are Christian based we will get nowhere.
All Kids should study the 4 Gospels and learn just about Christ when talking christianity.

No i should think not, i have read the english translation of the Koran, and i am not even religious, knowing other people and their cultures is a very good thing to do and very interesting to learn.I think all the present problems will bring the decent peoples of the world closer together, no matter what their religions or culture , in time.

Don't generalise. I don't know many Christians who can say hand on heart that they've read the Koran, or read other religious writings with an open mind. How can you say 'Christians are interested in other religious writings' and desire racial harmony? Have you read some of the comments about muslims on this site?

Well, God states clearly in the Quran that He has sent messengers to mankind previously. And one of the tennets of Islam is believing in previous messengers and books.

That just means that were not fully on the right path until we believe in the messengers before Prophet Muhammad.

I dont see any problem with reading Gods previous messages, no matter how 'edited' they might be, am sure theres some goodness left.

And anyone who has understood the meaning of islam would not be afraid to read the Bible or any other religious text.

No, I already know quite a bit. You don't see me criticising and generally being hateful to their followers either. We, as Muslims have the utmost respect for fellow Muslims, Jews and Christians. Its a shame that the same respect is not shown to us.

afraid of what? Muslims are encourage to seek knowledge from cradle to grave, have comparative study and analysis of other religion.Islam is so tolerant and confident that properly informed muslims won't go astray and convert to other religions. The more a muslim compare, the more they learn the versatility and authencity of islam and therefore the more faith one perceive and practice it,not blind obedience.

Muslims should not read the Bible etc as they are only to read the Word of God as revealed to Mohamed. All other books are to be avoided as they are believed to be lies & will contaminate the true believer.
