God doesn't want soldiers. God wants us to be loving and treat each other with respect. You can't do this if you are telling them that their beliefs are wrong.
It is odd to assume that God was not smart enough to make sure that everyone had a sure path back home no matter what culture they are from or what belief system they follow.
The idea that there is only one correct way back to God is both arrogant, confused and an insult to God.

Prayer is a major way and probably the most effective, other than showing Christ's love through your own life.
You can talk all you want. Unless the Holy Spirit reveals Himself to someone they will always remain blind.
It is sad to hear the previous account of someone being "beaten" because they didn't believe in Jesus. I have to believe that there was some exaggeration in that account. Or the attackers were using "Jesus" as an excuse.
Anyone who truly follows after Jesus Christ and has His Spirit would never "beat up" anyone. Don't forget, there are impostors out there. History shows that entire genocidal movements occurred under the pretense of religion. But those who tortured and killed were using religion as an excuse.
The Bible says about true Christians" By their fruits [actions] you will know them."
Show someone God's love and hopefully His love shining through you will change their hearts.

By not trying to change anyone's thoughts. Fundamentalists in all religons are the most vocal; if the deeper, more spiritual christians were to be heard, things would be different. If we didn't see the emails and the rants that try to depict christians as being persecuted by misrepresenting prayer in schools (and the fact that they CAN pray all they want but it can't be ENDORSED by a teacher), we'd go a long way. If they didn't get so rigid in their dogma about stem cell research, evolution, gay marriage -- instead, if they LOVED, we'd get a different response. As long as God is a projection of all the negative of people's egos (separation, judgement, etc.), the face of christianity will not change.

You don't. This is the problem, ppl don't change any ones mind about Christianity as it is suppose to be. God does that. However if you are talking about the religion of Christianity, that is up to the individual. They make it what it is by how they act towards their fellow human being. If someone has a bad impression of it, it is because they have encountered only negative aspects from those who profess to be Christian. This is very often the case.

You are asking the wrong question. Christianity, in all it's confusion, dissension, disunity, flaky doctrine and dogma, contains too many people whose triumphalism, arrogance, mixing of religion and state, and plain rank materialism ala Creflo Dollar have permanently turned people off to Christianity. It's so bad that you personally can't change someone's thoughts about Christianity for the better. While your personal conduct may make them think worse of Christianity, if they think well of you instead, they will just assume you are an exception. It's easy to bring shame on Christ, harder to bring fame to Christ since nothing you do will live up to his mythical stature and legendary perfection, which is the standard you'll be held to a lot.
Changing someone's thoughts about Jesus, what he taught, what "Christianity" seems to have forgotten, is another proposition. Try leaving "Christianity out." Leave Paul, Peter, James, Jude and John out. Just Yeshua Ben Yosef, Jesus of Nazareth, what he taught, how he conducted himself, how people reacted to him and he to them. Synoptic Gospels only, maybe Mark's Gospel alone. See what happens. It was more than thirty years after Jesus died before Paul's first letters attempting to explain Jesus were even written. There was no Bible. There was no letter to the Hebrews with all it's explanation of the Melchizedek priesthood of Jesus. No Letter to the Romans with its sin lists. No Gospel of John with the Logos and all it's highly developed Christology. No Book of Revelations and it's tirade against the Flavian emperors of Rome. There was just verbal tradition of the sayings and deeds of Jesus, and the faith was spreading through all the Roman Empire. Hmmmmm.
Maybe you forget Churchianity, Paulianity, Pastorism, and your personal relationship with a dead god-man you talk to every night whose ghost lives inside you (that's what people think you know and it sounds freaky to the unindoctrinated) and talk about Jesus, basic gospel story, his preaching of the kingdom of God, Sermon on the Mount, what believers called simply, "The Way." See what happens then, to them, and to you. Believe it all or don't, but theres no denying the power of plain, vanilla Jesus to attract many people's interest, and no denying the power of everything added since Jesus to turn many people off.

That depends on what they already think of it and why. Just so you know, my best friend had the crap beaten out of him for not accepting Jesus. He's in favor of bringing back the Death Camps just for the Christians. So it would be a really hard sell to convince him to change his mind about Christianity.

YOU don't it has to be the person themselves that changes their thoughts and beliefs. It is not up to us. You can counsel and discuss and even strive to instruct if they are willing to listen. Otherwise you should not interfere.
