The sport of boxing is governed by boxing commissions. Many are state commissions, and some are national. (There are even International and Olympic commisions as well). Each commission has its own rules about gloves. In short, the boxers wear the gloves that are sanctioned by the commission where the fight is taking place.

Good question.

ok it depends on who is sanctioning the fight.
All gloves go the a checking or scruitineering process.
As for the color red or blue its a draw card. heads gets to chose which dressing room, and the dressing rooms are red and blue.
In pro fights the gloves are meant to be put on over the wraps or bandages inside the ring after these wraps or bandages have been inspected and signed by both the ref and the doctor. After the fight they are meant to be removed before leaving the ring so the bandages may be inspected again.

According to the website http://www.secondsout.com/usa/colhauser.cfm?ccs=208&cs=17973 in New York State championship bouts there are four sets of gloves laid out on a table. The champion picks first, then the challenger, then the champion picks his back-up set, and the challenger has the last pair as his back-up.

even as your on your rooms getting yours fingers taped, a member from the competition nook will be their observing you get straped. they are going to then signal the tape. Your gloves will then be positioned on and taped on the velcro so that they couldn't be bumped off. The oppistion bloke will connect up the tape their too. The referee squeezes your gloves earlier a wrestle to examine for some thing. Itd be confusing to imagine someone getting away with it.
