Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9)

Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water in wine at the wedding in Cana.

It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage.

Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7)

What would Jesus do? Jesus had a cup of wine with dinner.

If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical teaching onto others.

With love in Christ.

Answer: Several verses encourage people to stay away from alcohol (Leviticus 10:9; Numbers 6:3; Deuteronomy 14:26; 29:6; Judges 13:4,7,14; 1 Samuel 1:15; Proverbs 20:1; 31:4,6; Isaiah 5:11,22; 24:9; 28:7; 29:9; 56:12; Micah 2:11; Luke 1:15). However, Scripture does not necessarily forbid a Christian from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. Christians are commanded to avoid drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18). The Bible condemns drunkenness and its effects (Proverbs 23:29-35). Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19). Scripture also forbids a Christian from doing anything that might offend other Christians or might encourage them to sin against their conscience (1 Corinthians 8:9-13). In light of these principles, it would be extremely difficult for any Christian to say they are drinking alcohol to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Jesus changed water into wine. It even seems that Jesus likely drank wine on occasion (John 2:1-11; Matthew 26:29). In New Testament times, the water was not very clean. Without modern sanitation efforts, the water was filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. The same is true in most third-world countries today. As a result, people often drank wine (or grape juice) because it was far less likely to be contaminated. In 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul was instructing Timothy to stop drinking the water (which was probably causing his stomach problems) and instead drink wine. The Greek word for wine in the Bible is the most basic everyday word for wine. In that day, wine was fermented, but not to the degree it is today. It is incorrect to say that it was grape juice, but it is also incorrect to say that it was the same thing as the wine we use today. Again, Scripture does not necessarily forbid Christians from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. Alcohol is not, in and of itself, tainted by sin. It is, rather, drunkenness and addiction to alcohol that a Christian must absolutely refrain from (Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 6:12). There are principles in the Bible, however, that make it extremely difficult to argue that a Christian drinking alcohol in any quantity is pleasing to God.

People sometimes completely fail to use their common sense and any sort of logical thought when it comes to Christianity and the use of alcohol. In the scriptures, it does NOT condone the drinking of alcohol. What it DOES condone is the drinking of alcohol to the point of intoxication. Drunkenness is a sin. Drinking a moderate amount of alcohol from time to time, is perfectly fine. Consider what Jesus Christ's very first miracle was: he was at a wedding and he turned vats of water into vats of wine. Now if drinking alcohol was a sin, would the Son of God (a perfect man) have gone ahead and done something sinful? Absolutely not.

The scriptures, while stressing the moderate use of alcohol, also talk about the medicinal use of it, in fact, in one letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul talked about drinking a little wine to help settle the stomach. Again, if the consumption of alcohol was sinful, would this faithful, righteous man have encouraged it? No.

Jesus did not drink grape juice, solely, he also drank wine (which included alcohol then as it does today), and being our Exemplar, Jesus drank in moderation as Christians today are to do. The consumption of alcohol in itself does not prevent a person from presenting their bodies as a sacrifice to God.....but the sinful immoderate use of alcohol, or drunkenness, is the sin.

So while the Bible does state that drinking to the point of getting drunk is sinful, it does not say that drinking alcohol (period) is wrong. The Bible most certainly does allow for Christians to drink alcohol.....again, but in moderation.

If it is a sin to drink, then we have no Saviour.
1Ti 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
Every Jew knows that in order to celebrate Passover you must consume four glasses of Kosher Wine(with alcohol).
Jesus celebrated the Passover at the Last Supper. And we know He did not sin. Someone will say that He used grape juice not alcoholic wine. But this defies history and logic. Wine ferments because there is yeast in the skin of the grape. If God
Almighty didn't want the wine to ferment He should not have put
yeast in the skin.

It's ultimately between you and God. The bible does speak pretty clearly to being a drunk, moreso than having a drink. God put alcohol here for medicinal purposes, just like other drugs. What kind of example are you setting to your mates??? Are they saved? Is it your goal to lead them to Jesus? If so, how is your drinking with them helping? Pray about it, and use wisdom. I think you already know what you should do in your heart.

When you became a Christian, you gave up the rights to your body. It is now a temple.

John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Jesus drank grape juice which was called wine. It was not firmented wine. There are 3 kinds of wine. Grape juice, then there is the firmented one that you get durnk on, and then vinigar that was used for medicinal purposes.

Jesus drank the grape juice and not the firmented one. You need to treat and respect your body, for the temple it was transformed into when you accepted Jesus as yoru savior. Dont let satan weaken your new faith with his tricks and tools like liquor of any kind Chrisitans do not take in alcachol of any kind.

Liquor weakens your mind as well as your spirit and causes you to leave your faith behind and do things that are not in obedience to God and his laws. Whom do you serve? God or mortal man?

No out of marriage sex, no bars, no drugs, Prescriptions are ok as long as they are being used for the purpose intended. Keep your mouth clean and free from bad language. Read your bible daily so you can learn what it is God wants from you as a new Christian.

If you look hard enough, the bible says that almost everything is a sin.

The bible is a false scripture compiled by a roman emperor to subvert the teachings of Jesus. Do your self a favor and do some actual research into where the bible came from and you will see what I am saying.

The truth is out there but you can't find it in the nonsense scripture known as the bible.

The bible does not say that drinking is wrong in fact, according to the bible Jesus made water into wine when they ran out at a party. Also, He served wine at the last supper. What the bible says is that drinking to excess is a sin. This could be interpret ted as gluttony or as the acts one does when out of conscious control when one is intoxicated. But drinking in itself is not sinful.

The truth is the bible tells us that it isn't what goes into the mouth that defiles a man, it is what comes out. That means that if you drink too much you might say things you'll regret and if you drink way too much you might just vomit it up. The contents of one's stomach are unclean or i.e. defiled. God created this mechanism to save us from poisoning ourselves with alcohol to excess.

I hate to be so blunt but it is true.
