Why does my cat meow in a hateful sounding way all the time? She never used to be like thatand now it's a constant occurance. She also will do it directly in my ear at four, five in the morning

It probably isn't hateful.....she is just wanting attention. Sometimes mine meow like that and everyone thinks that something is wrong or that she is mad, but she just wants something is all...

She could be in heat. When you pet down her back and get to her tail does she start to meow more and stick her butt up in the air? Does she rub on you more? Also, does she just role around aimlessy on the ground. If you answered yes to these then she is in heat.
If she hasn't been fixed either, she can go around the house and spray and leave the smell of cat urine in the house. Usually around 8months - 1 year the first heat cycle begins and can last up to an annoying week. Best thing to do when she is out of heat is to get her fixed.

She's definately in heat and let me add, it will not get better or go away until you get her fixed. My cat did the same at all hours in middle of nite waking up my little ones, so we had to have her spayed cuz her cries for her mate were becoming a nuisance.
I know exactly what u are going thru and u may want to try getting a water bottle and spray her when she does that in middle of nite for her to stop.

Wake up! I want to go out! That is what it means and maybe you are a little hard to wake? I sometimes try to ignore my cat when she wakes me at four in the morning but it's useless, she is more persuasive then me.

Your cat is wanting something, thats why she is doing it that early in the morning and in that tone.

She might want your attention or she wants to play. She could be hungry or maybe her kitty box is dirty.
