I think it is an experience that almost transcends semantics.A feeling that serves as a catalyist for a neverending connection perhaps? At least that is how I would define the love between romantic/sexual partners. That also raises the question "how many types of Love" exist. You have what the Greeks referred to as "Eros" which is the love between a Man and a Woman (Or Gay partners),Then you have the word "Agape" which is defined as the love of Family/Friends/Humanity, and there is also the love man is alledged to possess naturally for his creator/deity (if you invest a great deal of belief in that sort of thing). All I can say for certain is that you know when you have it, and it embodies the elements of connection, passion, extreme feeling, loyalty, (or "group loyalty" for our polyamourous friends) and sacrifice.

Best definition I ever heard was that love is "the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth...When one has successfully extended one's limits, one has grown into a larger state of being. Thus, the act of loving is an act of self-evolution even when the purpose of the act is someone else's growth...we are incapable of loving another unless we love ourselves..."

Love is a profound feeling of tender affection for or intense attraction to another. It is considered a deep, ineffable feeling shared in passionate or intimate interpersonal relationships. However, in different contexts, the word love has a variety of related but distinct meanings: in addition to romantic love, which is characterized by a mix of emotional and sexual desire, other forms include platonic love, religious love, familial love, and the more casual application of the term to anyone or anything that one considers strongly pleasurable, enjoyable, or desirable, including activities and foods. This diverse range of meanings in a single word is commonly contrasted with the plurality of Greek words for love, reflecting the word's versatility and complexity

When both of you cannot imagine being anywhere without the other being by your side. Caring so much about the other, you think before saying something that will hurt. Being best friends and enjoying each others company to the point that it makes others sick. That's what my wife and I have.

Love is a divine feeling in which one tends to protect the one whom he/she loves even from himself, a feeling which is as feeble as a bubble but as strong as a cord which can become a very strong strength. When you worry about someone else above yourself it is love, when you give your last food to someone even though you have not eaten anything it is love, when you feel happy for someone even thought it has turned your world upside down it is love, when you can die for someone without even thinking a split second for yourself it is love, when you can do anything for that person then it is love, It is simple, Love is a river which flows from one lover to other river as does the river do...glacier to sea....
