for the guy , he could say im doing a survey and maybe you can help me out. and put together 10 questions . my first 3 questions would be:
1- do you like 2 in the pink and 1 in the stink?
2- what color is the area around your nibbles?
3- do you swalla?
and so on. not only these will entertain your guest., but you might get lucky in the car ride.

Working with the public for many years, I have found that people like to talk about themselves...alot. Just a few pointed questions will get them on a roll. Things they like to talk about is family, their job, if in school...their teachers and subjects. If they are not receptive to your questions, turn up the radio...an hour isn't so bad...

i usually ask someone if they'd seen a movie that i recently saw or wanted to see. movies r an easy topic since everyone has seen a movie before and from movies u can move onto other topics such as the actors, music and so on. u just have to find a common ground to start with and it'll go on from there. hope it works out for u.

For a guy: "Nice car! What kind of mileage/0-60/bhp do you get?"
For a gal: "How's your mother doing?"
Ask either one of these then you can just sit back and listen to the story for an hour or so. Be prepared to say "Uh huh, yeah." every so often.
