He's talking out of the top of his head. The equipment isn't there to give them, for Chrissakes. One Chinook they have just sent out there was last used in the Falklands War!

Whatever Blair says Blair does not usually mean or contradicts himself in all ways. As one member of the tory party said "Blair is the finest tory leader we have ever had!" I rest my case.

They believe it because Blair pledged on behalf of his country not on his personal capacity. UK by now can afford to fullfil the demands of its army, otherwise it will withdraw from Afganistan
