" Tell me. Was I born a muslim? Or was I born to a Muslim family and was told that I was a Muslim?"

It sounded a ridiculous question because I could not answer at all!

Further he said "If I had been abandoned at birth, somewhere and taken away by someone else , what would I be called?. Is there a blood /DNA test to find out this abandoned child is a muslim child?"

I asked a scientist and he said no such test.

when i said to a muslim at the local mosque i want to convert to islam, he, being a fellow whose cultural background and accents differed from me, state something i can't comprehend if it was a question or a remark, "you go to saudi arabia". I blushed because i thought, wow, does it cost so much, i can't afford that.
Later, i learned that i got the wrong meaning, he thought i was converting to islam for convenience as it afford an individual 100% chance to work there, that was 1981 and the pays were rated very high then.
Another one was, "are you planning to marry more than one wife?"

Suunis usually ask shia Muslim weird questions relating to their customs in the Month Of Moharram.
