With due respect, this does not make sense to me as a Muslim. It is not fair either. Why would someone - no matter how noble - have to pay for my sins? In Islam, everyone is accountable for what they do.

This would be, if you understand what Jesus did and live in harmony with all the things he believed in and strive to put the words contained in the bible, into action, then on this basis your sins would be covered. Only if you follow in Jesus footsteps can your sins be covered, You make a mistake, you are repenting of your sins on the basis of what Jesus did for you. Your sins are covered, not for all time since that is not how it works.
Jesus was sent by god to cover the sins of those putting trust and faith in God and Jesus. You use Jesus as a mediator to God through prayer. Yes you should worship god but understand the position and role that Jesus plays in everything.

Jesus and God the Father are one and the same. Coequal. Coeternal. Of the same godly essence. Unified. Along with God the Holy Spirit.
Since his time here on earth, Jesus also has a flesh body, which has been glorified in order to be compatible with a heavenly existence.
Jesus was crucified so sins could be forgiven.
It's still necessary to be baptized in faith, to be sorry, and repent for your sins, in order for sins to be forgiven.

You are to worship God the Father through personal faith in Jesus Christ. "Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
You are forgiven of all your sins when you place your personal faith, belief, trust, dependance, and confidence in Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior. "But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). "And all who believe in God's Son have eternal life. Those who don't obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them" (John 3:36).
When Jesus Christ died on the cross how many of your sins were in the future? All of them. So when you place your faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior how many of your sins are forgiven? All of them. If, by His death on the cross, Jesus didn't pay for all your sins---even ones yet to be commited, then He would have die again and again for your sins. This is not the case. Jesus has washed away your sins. We know the Father was satisfied with Christ's death for your sins because God raised Jesus from the dead 3 days later!
Don't let another minute go by without accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. You won't regret it if you begin following Him.

you should read this dude!
"Heaven's Grocery Store"!
I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read,"Heaven's Grocery Store".
As I got a little closer the door came open wide,
and when I came to myself I was standing inside.
I saw a host of Angels, they were standing everywhere.
One handed me a blanket and said, "My Child shop with care".
Everything a Christian needs is in that grocery store,
and all you can't carry, come back the next day for more.
First, I got some Patience, Love was in the same row.
Further down was Understanding, needed everywhere you go.
I got a box or two of Wisdom, a bag or two of Faith,
I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost, it was all over the place.
I stopped to get some Strength and Courage to help me run this race,
but then my blanket was getting full, and I remembered I needed Grace.
I didn't forget Salvation, which like the others was free,
so I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
for I thought I had everything to do my master's will.
As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and had to put it in,
for I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf.
Song and Praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the Angel, "How much do I owe"?
The Angel smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again, I politely asked "How much do I really owe?"
The Angel smiled again and said,"My Child, Jesus Paid Your Bill
A Long Time Ago...."
and now THINK:)

the concept sin develop into unforgiven for 4000 years is rediculous! Temple Judaism custom dictates that sin might want to be forgiven with a suitable scrificial providing. some thing from grain or a loaf of bread, to a blemish free bull or lamb. that could no longer to assert sacrificing some thing develop into the in elementary words thanks to attain forgiveness. Judaism to this day teaches that a sin dedicated through one individual antagonistic to some different person may have the sin forgiven through the sufferer, yet in elementary words God can forgive a sin antagonistic to God. that is the concept for the rift between Judaism and Christianity. the full divine/messiah challenge is secondary. Christianity teaches that a guy (priest) can forgive any transgression so long because the sinner truly feels undesirable and must be forgiven. Judaism says that's no longer so effortless. And all and sundry who thinks you could position self assurance in some thing that comes after your existence are in simple terms being reidulous. The myriad of humanity that lived earlier Jesus had no favor to position self assurance in his "divinity" to recieve salvation. that they had thier own equipment of redemption. in case you Christians can get over the full "we are suitable because our e book says we are, and therefore all and various else should be incorrect" kick the international might want to be an invaluable deal extra perfect position.

The Bible explains that Salvation is based upon God's Grace and accomplished by Christ's sacrificial death for sin.
Salvation is a Gift of God's grace and includes Justification and Redemption.
We all fall short of the Glory of God, and all have sinned. Because of our Sinful Nature, we can't earn it, nor do we deserve, it can only be received as Faith.
Asking for Jesus as your Savior, Asking forgiveness from God in His son's name is the same.

You have to truly want to be forgiven and feel truly sorry for your sins. Jesus is not your Get out of jail free card. You have to ask for forgiveness and be sincere about it. He died so that you will have the option to repent and go to Heaven rather than just die and be nonexistent.

You sin all the time, as soon as you roll out of the bed you're sinning. Jesus did die on the cross for our sins, and Jesus and God are one and the same. Read the NT.

"Jesus was crucified for your sins" is a concept which was determined to keep you feel guilty all the time thus controlling your relationship with Jesus Christ under the mediation of priests and politicians. I think Jesus Christ was crucified because he wanted to free people's minds from the control of religion and its leaders. He was crucified to set up a direct, loving, parental and reasoning relationship between you and Him. Do you think if your child made a mistake while learning something, he/she would commit unpardonable sin. We sin "make mistakes" because we learn all the time, or does God want us standstill, never think, never try, never learn or never sin or mistake? I love Jesus, I love and appreciate the talent "mind" He has given me and I like my sins because they promote me to learn more and more.
By His Crucifixion He has taught us that "Freeing the mind" is worth dying for, not following Him by force. He wants us to love him on our own free will as He loved us and saved us from religion and politics on HIS FREE WILL.

From memory the crucifixion wiped out original sin. The apple bit. However I have always had a problem with the vicarious nature of this sin. When I asked the nuns at school they made me stand in the corridor.
