LG used to be Goldstar. I bought a TV with that Goldstar and it lasted for 12 years with only one problem sent for repair on the 9th--the infrared receiver from the remote control. The picture tube just gave out after the 12th year but when I bought it, they did dare assure that the picture tube is under warranty for the next five years, and it delivered twice that span.
Good? From the consumer's point of view, YES, most assuredly.

I happen to be a big fan of LG they seem to have very good quality.
LG and phillips joined together to make LCD screens out of the same factory. Kinda like the way Sony and Samsung joined forces. Its just good business.
I sell many high end products and I never have a problem recommending LG.

LG products, especially electronics, are very highly regarded. They are made in South Korea and have taken over the Zenith brand.

I believe that LG LCD TVs are part of LG.Phillips LCD. And as such are a very high quality. IMO Phillips make some of the best LCDs in terms of picture quality.
