be saying, the reason why he is lazy is he has a 3 year old sister and a 4 year old brother. Is there any way I can help him along.

my daughter is 2 in a couple of weeks & in the last 3-4 months she has really improved on her speaking. She does manage sentences but not everyone understands her. At 19 months your son should be doing the basics "ta ta", "mummy", "daddy" etc but my daughter never said hello & still doesn't, she says hi but that was only recently!

I wouldn't worry, soon enough he will come out with lots of different words & it'll feel like it was overnight. My daughter also counts to 10 but misses out 7 as she can't say it! Once a day count to ten with your son & soon he won't need you counting with him!

I read about this in a psychology book once. On average, the book is around 20 words if I remember correctly. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll start putting sentences together before you know it. I've got a 3 year old nephew that didn't sputter more than a few sounds until he was 2 years old. Now he's very inquisitive, and talks in complete sentences. Talk to your son, be very expressive while you talk with your face. He'll be fine. Good luck! ;)

How much time to you get with your little boy on a one to one basis?
Maybe time together, with just the two of you would help.
Try not to let the older ones answer for him or speak for him, direct questions or conversations individually might help as well.
I have b/g twins and my little girl is very good at talking,my little boy is quite a bit behind her and we noticed that she was doing all the talking for him, since we have stopped that he has come on in leaps and bounds.
Good luck and try not to worry, they all develop at their own pace.
If you are really worried try speaking to your h/v.

I could have a conversation with my eldest son when he was 18mths old, my daughter was 2 and a half before she even said her first word and my youngest son spoke his first words just before he was 2. But couldn't put a sentence together until he was almost 3.

Don't worry!!!

You will find the older kids speaking for him, don't worry though as this happened to my 3rd child. All kids develop at different stages.
