I would say that more accurately faith is beliving in something you do not know for a fact is so.

personally I have very little faith in anything. no need, I KNOW that the things I "believe" in are so, such as souls, what I call God, reincarnation, ect, are so. I have personally experienced enough that there is ZERO question that these are absolutely true.

I think faith is something much more complex than pure belief. Faith is a way of knowing things, not believing in spite of knowing. Faith is a way of knowing what you cannot give a tangible basis to. Faith is a way of saying that you adhere to something that you might have no proof of.

Thomas Aquinas said something is self-evident in one of two ways: self-evident in itself and to us, or self-evident in itself and not to us. What this means is we are either aware of a particular truth (reality) or we are not aware of it. The same is true about faith. Some people are aware of certain truths and others are not. It comes down to a realization of things that are difficult to prove.

Think of it this way. The holocaust of WWII is a fact. Yet, there are some people who refuse to believe in it. Even with all the documented evidence they do not want to believe in it.

Another way to think about it is this:

You KNOW what you witnessed yourself.
You THINK what you mind rationalizes.
You BELIEVE what cannot be proven.

Hope this gives a variety of perspectives to choose from.

No. Faith is believing very strongly about something you have no tangible evidence of. If you know it isn't so, you don't have much faith in it, do you?

No. Faith is something that you really believe deeply inside your heart even though you have not seen it with your naked eyes.
