CPR under water does not make sense to me. Can't see how it would work, chest compressions maybe, if body is secured to something solid so the compressions would actually work, until patient is out of water but not rescue breaths. Remember, it is a FICTIONAL show, please do not attempt rescue of ANY KIND that you see on a TV show unless you are a trained prefessional!

When performing cpr you are doing chest compressions and giving breaths. First off, when you do a chest compression you are causing a vacum in the lungs, like a turkey baster when you push on it it blows the air out, let go and it sucks air in, do this under water and all you are doing is filling the lungs with water, there for no oxygen is being taken into the lungs, so your pumping blood through the body that has no oxygen in it. The purpose of cpr is to keep oxygenated blood pumping through the body.
Second, its a movie.

You have obviously never done a 1st Aid class where you learn CPR, as you would know that it is impossible to do CPR on any one while under water.
How do you blow air into a victim? Who has obviously drowned, their lungs would be full of water.
Also how to you do the compressions on a person under water? When you have bouancy of the water against you and the victim.
CPR
C= Cardio = Heart
P= Pulmonary = Pulmonary
R= Resusitation = Breathing for the victim

Underwater CPR can be performed by mouth to nose and by covering the patients mouth, and is usually performed when the patient is trapped or lodged underwater and is unable to be moved above water and onto dry land.
This when used correctly can save a person's life but can be affected by the amount of fluid in their lungs.

I don't know about the movie, but CPR underwater is impossible. I've heard of people breathing air into someone that is just running out of air underwater, but not someone that is already unconcious and drowning. You're right, that is incredibly stupid.

Yea you're genuine! The implication that mutually as he's appearing the CPR, water getting into the lungs could be extra of a homicide than attempt to maintain her! i wish no one places this stunt into actual use everywhere!

First off, it's a movie - so chill. Secondly, he was blowing air into her lungs...which can revive someone who has simply stopped breathing. But we all know she was shot in the head, there was no reviving her.

I think, "It's Just a movie"!!! You can share oxygen with someone via a tank underwater but if they are already at the point of NOT breathing.....

i don't think its logical to do CPR underwater b/c the person will just keep gettiing water in their lungs and you might end up drowing too
