Spring or fall cleaning, start at the celling and dust the ceiling and walls with a clean dust mop, you can put an old pillow case over it and wash it after. Wash the windows and blinds and curtains if you have them. Wipe of the closet shelves and get rid of out dated or things you haven't worn in two years. Wipe off the clothes pole and baseboards in the closet and around the room. Get rid of clutter and and unnecessary items, wash bedding (sheets every week ). Vacuum the floor.
Weekly just dusting and vacuum and picking up things and putting anything you no longer want , or doesn't fit, in a bag for charity and then take it to a charity, throw out what isn't any good.

Seriously...? As in, apart from letting Mom do it...?

1. Hang up all clothing every day. Don't strew it around.
2. If you don't intend to wear an item without laundering or repairs, put it in the laundry hamper or sewing box. Now.
3. Making the bed can be simply accomplished by smoothing the sheets and coverlets; it's not necessary to strip the bed.
4. Every week: vacuum, dust (start with the ceiling, especially the corners) and change the bed sheets.
5. Every six months: wash the woodwork (Murphy's Oil Soap if you are old-fashioned; 409 if you aren't) and the interior of the windows.
6. Spray the room with Febreeze every morning. Don't forget the closet.

Do these simple steps, and your bedroom will look like it came out of BH&G. Good luck!

If your room is a total disaster, this can be overwhelming, so divide your room into sections, and clean it over afew days. The first day, you might just pick up everything on the floor and vacumn. The next day, you might do the tops of the dressers and 3 drawers. The next day, you might tackle the closet. After afew days, your room will be clean. Then do a set-time weekly pick-up and cleaning to keep it that way.

if your room is in a total mess. set yourself four or five hours out ONE a day just for cleaning your room.
if you're trying to clean out old drawers and cupboards etc.
the best thing to do is throw everything out onto the floor. and sort things into piles such as "things to throw out" and then sort the other things into boxes or whatever.
that may take a while.

but if you mean for generally keeping it tidy. do a bit each day of the week.
|e.g.
monday - dusting
tuesday -vacuming
wed - dusting
thursday - sorting things into correct places

etc etc
the clear things off of the shelves etc. and clean them with a damp cloth to get rid of the dust etc.
and once you've done all of that :D
hover/vacum the floor.

haha it takes a while. but it feels so much better afterwards:D

i always do it the same way because it sometimes can be overwhelming. i start in one corner fathest from a door. then working backwards towards that door i throw everything behind me. it doesn't matter if i'm going to return an object to it's correct space. everything out of place or trash gets pushed out the door. then you have a clean room and i pile of stuff. you put back the stuff you want to keep and trash the rest. it works really fast. the other option to to have your mom do it.

Organize your cleaning tasks on a per day basis...clean a different area per day...for example, sweep floor today, vacum tomorrow, dust furiniture day after next, and so on. In that way, your room does not get dirty and you only allot a few minutes for each task

pick a section to clean, move out things that don't belong. Keep working your way through your room until u are finished.

Don't be afraid to through out things you haven't used in a long time, or get a tote to store memory thing in neatly.

What I do is put some energetic music on and I start with the garbage (if there is any), throw out old school assignments, clothes, and lastly all the junk that is hardest to organize. The music is just to keep me moving.
