It's never a good idea to stop meds abruptly without Doctors recommendation, but with Effexor this is ESPECIALLY true. I take two in the mornings to help with Bipolar along with Lithium. If I forget to take the Effexor then by about lunchtime I get really hot flushes which then leads on to feeling unwell, extreme nausea, vomiting and so on. Once i ran out on a Friday and by Saturday night I had the above symptoms plus some pretty disturbing psychotic delusions. It was extremely scary and my Psychiatrist described it as being Disphoric, the opposite to Euphoric. Just be careful.

My wife suffers from the same thing, and she also felt that way on medications. The only way she was able to feel "normal" again was by stopping the medications. It might be hard at first, but you will come down off them eventually.

Do not do this without consulting your doctor first, no matter what. The same can be said to anyone asking medical advice on yahoo answers. Ask your doctor to take you off of them and he might lower the prescriptions slowly to minimize the withdrawl.

Good luck

never ever just cut off your medication and go cold turkey, you really need to talk to your doctor and tell him or her that they are not right for you, cos no medication should make u so unhappy. my father is so fully druged up on mind numbing drugs, i dont know who he is any more, my dad aint behind his eyes like they were before, so please see your doctor or find another
