I hope this is simple enough. I just want to see what people have to say about it.

Who says it only has to be a couple lines? I don't mind long answers, so long as they're relevant to the question. I actually LIKE to read. That's why I asked a question that could be so complicated.

I'm a Christian, by the way. I especially wanted to hear from atheists and other nonbelievers on this, simply because I'm interested in what they have to say.
I respect people, no matter what their opinions are, so long as they've come to them in an intelligent manner.

I know that Christians are part of the race that has dominated the third planet from a small star in a group of nine planets. Basically no major differences from others of their species, except in temperament, and faith.
Usually very good at baking chocolate chip oatmeal cookies! Which we find very good.
How do I know- we have been studying you and eating cookies of your race for a long time.

Uh, delete that last remake, I mean because after all the probing.. uh I can't revel my evidence...never mind... here look at this bright light .... you will remember nothing I just said...

I doesn't take a long answer for your question but lets see If I can satisfy you. I am Christian. They are good and honest people who love to fellowship together in church. Most do any way, some wish to not go which is their decision. God doesn't make going to church a must do. It's not hard to tell a Christian on the street. If you are one you know exactly what I mean. If you are not one, you probably will never understand. True Christians are eager to share their good feelings with others about our Lord God. They love to tell others their inner peace and how it is so very helpful to anyone who would try it. If you have a lot of stress in your life there is a way to ease it. Most non-Christians think all they have to do is read a verse or two from the Bible and wait for the good things to happen. That's their method of trying it. Naturally it doesn't happen that way. As another person asked, you have to invite God and Christ into you heart. In other words, make them the center of your being. You have a soul, don't be afraid to use it. It's the most wonderful feeling in the universe. Once you've accepted Christ as your personal Savior and admitted you are a sinner and asked for forgiveness, your there, but you have to be sincere. God knows your heart and knows what you are thinking. If you are being truthful, you can't help but cry like a baby, only they will be tears of joy because you know God does indeed love you. Prayers work, please believe me because I'm am being so very blessed now it's incredible. It didn't happen by chance nor did it happen overnight. He answered my prayers non the less. I do hope you will give it a chance and God bless you.

I know enough that it's not for me, but I also know enough to have a great respect for the religion and its followers.

I grew up as a Christian in a Christian household. I know that the Bible was written by humans. I do not know if they had divine inspiration/intervention. I know that the religion has a lot to offer humanity, as does its predecessor, Judaism.

I also know that the church, christians, christianity and the bible are not one and the same. If one is to decide who is right over the other, one has to side with either nobody or the bible. The bible, unfortunately, is open to interpretation.

Those are my open-ended thoughts for the night :)

They teach doctrines that are designed to encourage psychologically damaging thought processes that are maladaptive to creating a sustainable future. That's Christianity

Christians are a diverse group of people like any other group. Some naive, spite full, gossipers, hypocrites, theifs, murderers, kind, forgiving, thought full, vengeful etc etc. The whole deck of cards. many christians are all of the above at one time, these are the very confusing ones.

As far as I can tell it is a religion that finds love, compassion and forgiveness through God and/or Jesus.

I may be wrong, but this is the minimum standard I hold all Christians to.

It is true that they no longer follow all of the teachings of Christ.

It is true that the Apostle Paul said that he felt he had worked for nothing because Christians had returned to the rituals and man made observances of men.

It is true that Christians continue involving themselves in the governments of men, knowing that God intends to destroy all human forms of government.

It is true that Christians continue to commit sins, even sins against the Holy Spirit, while declaring themselves forgiven.

It's true that Christ said there would be many who would claim to speak in his name.
