Okay here is the scenario....me and my girl were at McDonalds. She asked me what I was getting and I told her I was going to get a quarter pounder with cheese and some fries. She said "ooh that sounds good, i want to get that too." Then I told her no because it was too fattening for her and she needed to keep her trim figure. Then she was like "but you are getting it, why can't I?". Then I said because I am a guy and it is okay if we gain weight but if a girl gains weight it isn't attractive. Plus guys have higher metabolisms than girls do. I told her she was my little barbie girl and I wanted her to stay that way. Most of the time she understands my logic but she was on PMS and started pouting about it. Kudos to me for still paying for lunch. I ordered her a salad. Then while we were eating I told her that she could have a burger and fries for her birthday but she said she wanted Olive Garden! Women!! Anyways her friend found out and said I was a jerk. Am I wrong here?

Are you insane? Seriously, Should you LET your girlfriend????
LET her?! YES, You are wrong for assuming that your girlfriend needs to ask your permission to do ANYTHING. If you want a Barbie doll, got to toys-r-us and pick out you favorite. Just think... she won't talk back, you can make her do what you want. THAT is the perfect girl for you!! I feel sad that your girlfriend feels she has to live up to your ridiculous standards. Kudos to you?! I would have thrown the salad in your face. And, by the way... NO, I'm not fat. ALSO, am a registered nurse and NO men do not have higher metabolisms. Everyone's metabolism works at different rates, for different reasons. WOW, not only are you a jerk... your ignorant too! NICE COMBO!

Yes you are a jerk I'm afraid. You can't control her like that, she is not a child, let her make up her own mind. If you carry on trying to control her, one day she will get up and leave you for a guy that will treat her right. It's great that you care for her 'health' or whatever, but one burger and fries every so often isn't going to hurt and obesity is just as much a problem for men as it is for women....so maybe you should cut down on the burgers and fries too.........give the girl a break, or she will not want to be with you anymore. HTH.

she should of slapped you on the spot. You can't tell someone what they can or can not eat.
You should of let her eat the burger and fries. If I were you I would apologize immediately.

You do sound like a jerk though, I mean you told her that one of her presents was the ability to eat a burger and fries... from what i just read, you rather spend someones birthday at McDonald's than olive garden. Olive garden is much more romantic. It may be more expensive but its worth the food.

I'm very proud of you for being honest about what your expectations are... and yes we women need to be reminded that just because the "guy" is ordering big doesn't mean it's ok for us, too. Tell her to observe married couples... most of all the ones that started out skinny change biiiiig time.... because eating becomes a hobby. Going out on a date will make you guys want to eat junk food, because it's soul food... but it's really not good for her figure... for you neither. She might only see your point once she dumps you, because she doesn't understand your point... then later on when you see her with somebody else and she has gained some pounds- maybe then she will understand what you tried to prevent.
You see,... I am not condemning you for forbidding her to eat junk food.... but if you are really serious about it... then show more solidarity and don't eat junk food in front of her.... have a salad, too when you guys are together.

She is not a BARBIE doll which is a lifeless and unrealistic object but a living human female Get over it. What if you were disabled by an unexpected accident like me? You would find that that is not important. Though I thought it was not going to happen to me, it did. Be thankful she is still with you. Both of you can enjoy eating the same food.

Friend is right, and if jerk was the worst word she said, she's being too nice. What the hell is wrong with you? Loser! I had a boyfriend like you ONCE. Did you hear me? I said ONCE! I was hot too, and I wanted one choc. cupcake, and he told me he wan't going to buy it for me because I would get fat. He almost got his a$$ whipped in the bakery by some other guy. What the hell were you doing there, window shopping??!!! Did I say loser yet?! You take her to MCDONALDS! to begin with. In order to make up for YOUR screw- up, you had better not wait for her birthday to take her to Olive Garden, you had better take her there for her very next meal. And take her to get a manicure/pedicure/spa treatment if your worried about her looks-you pay 4 it. Then on to a VERY nice, large, EXPENSIVE shopping spree, with your loser a$$ carrying all the bags, paying for everything, going into each shop with her, not sitting on the benches when you get tired, and when she gets tired, you had better LET, suggest, offer, whatever, that SHE sit down on the bench while you rub ands massage her tired feet. And if she wants an ice cream you should smile happily and pay for that too. And then happily take her home, where she can happily dump your loser a$$!!!!!!

YES! You are entirely wrong! It is incredibly offensive to a girl when a guy says no, you can't eat that, you'll put on weight. It sounds to me like you are a superficial asshole to tell the truth! You should care more about the person that she is than about what she eats or looks like. All that makes me think is that you are with her for the popularity points and to look good. I am sorry, that was sleazy and wrong! If I had been her, I would have dumped you on the spot!

Are you for real!? Should you LET your girlfriend eat what she wants? Hey buddy, I don't think that's your decision! I don't care if you're paying or not. You have no control over what she eats. You've got to be completely insane. What freaking country do you live in? Ever heard of FREEDOM!? You're definitely a jerk!

You can't give kudos to yourself, for starters. And you don't deserve them anyway. You are a Jerk! Let her eat what she wants and if you are so uptight about her "trim figure," you should eat healthy yourself. I hope she wises up and loses you, buddy... you are far from prime BF material and don's deserve a girl of any sort until you grow up a little... no, make that a LOT. with a side of Fries for your soon to be ex-GF.

She deserves better; you deserve less.

I'm happy you put your foot down. Why? Because your poor girlfriend ate a nice healthy salad and will probably be around for a good long while. You, on the other hand, ate an artery clogging meal full of toxins like trans fat. So with any luck won't be around much longer to abuse that woman who is much too good for you.
