Can my wife can drive a car in korea even though I am non-command sponsored in the Army?

i really need for her to drive, and we are going to be in south korea for 3 years. i am in the military.

As long as you have the car licensed on base... for you to drive.... and the car is insured for her too... ( I recommend USAA).

But iffn it's your wife... and 3 year tour... why don't u just get her command sponsorship!!! That's the right answer!!! It's just a little paperwork...

If you are stationed in Area I (the vehicle restricted area which is North of Seoul), the answer is no, or at least not without an exception to policy (which in Area I is close to impossible). If you are in Area II through VII (Seoul and South), and you are the rank of E-7 or higher, she can drive with an exception signed by the first O-5 in the chain of command, which is a little easier. If you fall into neither of those, she can drive off post with a Republic of Korea driver's license, but needs to get the vehilce signed on and off of post everytime and cannot leave the vehicle on post overnight. Regardless of rank, she can always get a moped, but may still need a ROK license.

I stay in Camp casey uncommand backed. I had to pay my way here and that i could pay it back. when I have been given here i wanted a memorandum performed for my settee visa so i could stay here until he leaves. We get OHA its approximately $1800 we finally end up with money left over as quickly as we pay hire.
