I have recently returned from France, where I ate some fantastic food, simple but extremelly well sourced and prepared. It made me realise that I can't remember the last time I ate out, especially in my local area of Bury/Middleton, and could honestly say that the meal did not disappoint on some level, be it the service or preparation. Any comments/suggestions?

I would say the reason your dissapointed here is that in france the ingredients are far far better the cheese for example is beyond anything in UK. In meat the steaks tend to be cook very lightly so this is probably to your taste. However there maybe some hope prehaps .... Havent been to these places for a while but they didnt let me down

, In Eccles theres a place called Smiths. Le Petit Blanc in Manchester is usually good although can vary from time to time. If your a big meat eater the Cedar Tree is a Lebanese resturant within the city centre . As for Bury theres a really nice italian i used to go to as a kid i dont know what its like now. Bacco's on silverf street, it may have changed its name .

Because in France the ingredients are natural and fresh.
Genetically modified foods are banned, and so are many preservatives and additives you find in England.
The restaurants you go to are using typical ingredients found in England - Genetically modified, preserved by chemicals and not fresh out of the fields.
England and America both criticise France for the amount of government subsidies that are given to the Farmers, but in reality, it is necessary if you want to produce real food that is not chemically treated and genetically modified.
