The pain should be mostly gone. You need to go back to the dentist. It could be in they missed a root, and they need to go back in and search for one more. Or, in the process of the root canal, another tooth shifted which can cause your teeth to not line up like they did which can be extrememely painful if the pressure in in the wrong place. If that's what it is, that's an easy fix, they simply grind a bit off the teeth that are hitting improperly, and the pain is relieved immediately.
You really need to at least CALL the dentist and tell them you are still in pain. In a pinch, oil of clove can provide some relief. Look for emergency dental kits in most drug stores. Comes with a little bottle (which may not be called clove oil, but if you read the ingredients, it is). Just a tiny bit on a swab to the painful area will help numb it. It burns a bit until it numbs, tastes nasty, and you reek of cloves, but when your in pain, relief is the priority.

Three days of pain for a root canal, something is not right. My dentist permanently damaged a nerve in my mouth (that was 7 years ago) and it took 3 or 4 months to get to a point where I could live with it but a root canal? I suggest warm salt water for now but if it hurts that bad you need to call your dentist for follow-up.

If you have antibiotics take them you may have an infection you should also get some prescription pain killers or at least some ibuprofen. I would use some mouthwash several times a day as well. Hope you feel better.

Your dentist should have given you an antibiotic. the tooth he did the root canal on is dead. Maybe it just hurts where he put the shots to numb you.
