Mostly it's thought it's thermal and sun insulation for the reproductive 'goodies'. If we were to be nude, the risk of sun damage, freezing, etc. would result in lowered ability to reproduce. Also, the tissues/organs there are particularly temperature sensitive. The testicle's rising/lowering function allows the body to regulate temperature, and maximize sperm production.

The purpose of pubic hair is to provide protection to the soft tissues around vagina against dust and undesired elements. Its function is like that of eye-lashes.

Don't forget, God did not give us clothes to wear. Therefore, these kinds of protection were provided in the body by Him.

OH COME ON PEOPLE!!! It's not for protection... it's not for decoration... the only reason we have pubic hair is for when we go bald. Then we simply go to the bald people doctor and ask for a pubic transplant... the doc then takes our pubic hair and places it on our head. Many people have had this... you can usually identify them by the constant head scratching they are doing.

good question!!!!!

pubic hair, it protects your private parts from abrasion
it also keeps them nice and warm in the winter time :-)

there must be some kind of sexual function as well, perhaps to enhance attractiveness (or gives the males a "target" to aim for), although from doing some "research" (heh heh) using multimedia sources, I notice that many of the humans have decreasingly modified the quantity of pubic follicles :-)

All of the hair on your body suits a purpose. Usually it is meant to keep a part of your body warm during cold times.

**Edit** shield you from bacteria? I do believe you are talking about nose hairs, which are in fact there to stop you from inhaling things such as dust. Pubic hair doesn't shield you from anything.

It's supposed to help keep bacteria and germs out. It's supposed to trap the germs and not allow them to get any further in your body. But I don't really understand, 'cause these days most people I know, including me get rid of it and I don't see people running around with infections.
