How can i ask someone out when im shy and also afraid of being rejected?

well this would be my first girlfriend... i dont know her to well but i want to ask her out... i think my problem is mainly because im afraid of being rejected... any help?

The only way you will find out if she wants to go out with you is to ask her out. And true you could be rejected. But first smile and give her signs you are interested. Talk to her a little bit, it could be she doesn't know you like her. I think you'll be fine.

this one is tough! i have the same exact problem but I'm a girl. and i always thought that guys are not shy at all especially when it comes to asking someone out. but i read Yahoo answers and i see that there are plenty of guys and men who say they are or were shy.

the thing is, i'm extremely shy and scared. I can't even talk or be in the same place where the subject of my interest is. and unfotunately I had a crush on a guy recently, that feeling was torturing me. I wanted him to ask me out but it was near to impossible no matter what I would do. Even if he liked me he wouldn't do it, the reason is, he was my instructor at school. And you know what that means, they can't do that kind of stuff.

so, I thought I would get over it and be ok. But it didn't work that way. I finally decided to ask him, not on a date, just to meet and talk. I couldn't find the currage for two days, to write that once sentence to ask him. But I did. And he said yes, to my surprise. And NOW I'm freaking out. Because now I don't know what to do about it.

So think about it, write it out, talk it out, imagine talking to her about it. And here is the key, EXPECT her to say no and turn you down. If you DO EXPECT her to do that, and she does, it won't hurt as much. Trust me. I do it all the time.

I think a note or email would be appropriate. Be very polite and specific, about what day and where. She can always say she is busy that day, to let you down easy; if she is busy two days, she's being nice and look for someone else. My guess is, she'll say yes.

You would never make it as a salesman! Rejection hurts, but its kinda up to you how much it hurts. Be good to yourself, be confident and try and learn from it. (but always ask or you will never know what the answer may have been)

Think of it this way....What's the worst that could happen? She says no and....the world ends? Nope, you're salty for a couple hours, maybe even days then you see another girl you like.
