ILLEGAL immigrants are not immigrants they are criminals. They are not here to assimilate, for the most part, they are here for the money they can send to Mexico. An immigrant is planning to move here, to become a part of the country they are moving to. The ILLEGALS are not planning that. They wave Mexican flags, they have artificially lowered the wages paid for certain jobs because they are willing to work for those lower wages as it is more than they make in Mexico. The companies who hire ILLEGAL aliens need to have serious fines levied against them which will help to stop the flow of ILLEGALS across our borders.
If you are of Euorpean descent, the majority of our ancestors probably came through Ellis Island. Not everyone who came through was admited, families were often spilt apart, yet on the southern border there is nothing to prevent anyone from crossing with TB or other highly contagious diseases. As far as the originals settlers, they were welcomed by the Native Americans at first, so were they illegal or not and they was no central government and no laws against imigrating like there are today. Diferent circumstances and different times.
Then if you were to cross into Mexico illegally, watch out. Any citizen who finds out you are there illegallly can turn you in and get money. They do not offer you free medical, free education, no one offers everything in English and Spanish, and so you are considered a criminal and the Mexican jails are not nice.
As far as US citizens are the one draining the welfare and healthcare system... I would get rid of the ILLEGALS and place one welfare person in each ILLEGALS place. However, illegals, do contribute a great deal to the draining of the healthcare system. They normally do not go into the doctor until they are really sick and then the hospital has to treat them. The hospital loses money and passes the cost along to those of us that can (at this time) afford insurance. I know from personal experience that they trade off medical cards, so that several people will use the same medical card.
If you were a baby or child that was brought across by your parents, then seek out an immigration attorney and see about getting a visa, a green card, or getting your citizienship. Staying an illegal is continuing to be a criminal and steps need to taken to correct that or return to the country of your birth.
Do not get me wrong I do understand why they come here. I have no problem if they wish to come here legallly or as a guest worker. The problem arises when they decide to crose over the border by paying a coyote a $1000+ or following the map published by the Mexican government, and become a criminal.

People complain about the treatment that illegals receive in the US. But do you know how bad it is to be an illegal in Mexico.
Enter Mexico illegally and you're treated as a felon. If you're caught by the Federal Police, you'll be fortunate if you're only deported immediately. The unfortunate are robbed, abused, raped, or even murdered by corrupt police officers.
Fernando Aguilar Neri coordinates Red Cross efforts to help illegal aliens in Mexico.
“When people approach us, they are usually fearful that we work with the government and are afraid of being reported,” said Neri. “…One of the seven principles of the Red Cross is complete neutrality and independence, so we can't cooperate with the Mexican government on the illegal alien issue.”
Neri says that most illegals moving through Mexico try to avoid the cities.
The Catholic Church also shields illegal aliens from the Mexican government. CBN found two shelters for illegals in Mexico City, but weren't allowed inside.
Most of the Central Americans inside are on their way to the United States. They'll be fortunate if they arrive unharmed.
One immigrant from El Salvador said, "If you are carrying any money, the police take the money and then say, get out of here."
"We still have 20 days of travel (to reach the United States)," another one said.
But if you're a Mexican wanting to enter the U.S. illegally, then you can count on the Mexican government's help and support. It even has a special department called Grupos Beta that helps Mexicans cross the U.S. border illegal
“Grupos Beta is the Mexican government initiative which does not help people cross the border, but they do assist them when they have problems in the border area,” Trevino said.
But Grupos Beta gives them a booklet, which includes tips on how to safely cross the U.S border. Trevino denied the allegation that immigrants are also given maps by the government.
“No maps,” he said. “We give them recommendations about the dangerous animals they'll encounter, how much water they need every day, what to do in case they get lost, what to do in case they get detained by the border patrol, which paths are dangerous because of crime.”
The reason for the government's help? The cash sent home by Mexicans in the U.S. constitutes the second biggest source of foreign currency in Mexico after the oil industry. Last year that was $20 billion, or 2 percent of Mexico's GDP.
About 10 percent of Mexico's population is now living in the United States, that’s over 10 million people. And how many illegal aliens in its own country has Mexico legalized in the past five years? Just 15,000.
The Mexican government may think a new wall on the U.S. border is offensive, but critics are saying far worse things about Mexico's immigration policy.

You forget that this country was built on the backbone of illegal immigrants. All "Americans" had ancestors that immigrated here. Many came and landed on Ellis Island and struggled just to make it. This is supposed to be the country of opportunity for all. I really do not know you but I can make an assumption that you had ancestors, maybe parents or grandparents that came here and worked just so YOU could be born here and be given opportunities.. Yes, they are illegal immigrants but aren't they human beings worthy of a better life? You cannot compare immigration to murderers and rapists and make an assumption that they are one and the same. They are not even on the same level and therefore is uncalled for. If you're wondering what my status is since I'm very passionate about this: I'm a citizen of this country but it takes more than being a citizen to actually be an American. I hope you know that. There are some people that would give anything for the right to be heard and then there are so called "citizens" of this country that cannot even take the time to vote. And if you're gonna argue that illegal immigrants cost us tax payers money, then I would counter argue that so many "citiznes" are on wellfare and taking the taxpayer's money by not working. Spare me with this smallminded banter of yours please!

Exactly! If you, as a legal citizen of the USA, tried half the stuff illegals get away with, you would find your butt in jail doing time. For instance, if you stole someone's ID and got employment, credit, etc. Cheat on your income tax. If you lied and produced fake ID to get free medical care and welfare, you would be charged and prosecuted. If you drove without a license or insurance and then perhaps even became involved in a car accident. Even when illegals get caught doing all these things, nothing seems to usually happen to them. They don't even usually get deported! What gives?

Who's forgotten? There's a world of difference between legal and illegal immigrants. There's a right and a wrong way to do things. Grey's for cowards: 'complexity' for sophists.

Maybe because they are human just like you. Drug dealers and thieves are humans as well and if you had a tough life maybe you would understand that at times you gotta do what you gotta do even if is not right. Maybe these illegals have children to feed or have someone dying from hunger or sickness. Have you ever picked pennies from the floor to eat something? Maybe these people aren't as lucky as you are.

Because the issue is a lot more complicated than then just a paragraph in a law book, and it's pretty damn ugly for you to call immigrants drug dealers and thieves. It just shows how poorly informed you are. But still you bluster on about somebody else's statistics.

Because those who hire them are also illegal! If we continue down the illegal immigrant path, lettuce will be five dollars a head. OK, so you can afford it, right? But what about those who can not afford to spend that much of basic food sources. Do you want them to eat cake?
