my bf calls himself 'racialist' and i'm sure most of you know what that means. But he's so perfect in every other way...he has such high standards and he's a great speaker, a real leader. Could this just be a phase? All boys go through their nietzche patch (so my dad tells me). I don't want to stop seeing him, but I'm afraid it will get out of hand.

i just don't share his conservative/rightist views. I have friends from loads of different cultures and though he has never been offensive to them, they can tell he'd rather not talk to them or be around them. Does he have a point worth respecting (even if I disagree)?? whole thing has me confused.

His mother is dutch and doesn't speak much english. His father lives in boston and I've never met him (but we dont really talk about him much). He's a perfect gentleman with me...i've never known him to be anything but with other women also. Didn't mean to imply he wasn't!

I'm not sure why you'd want to be associated with let alone go out with someone who is a self proclaimed "racialist". Sure he may have some great characteristics but it all means nothing if he can't see past the fact that the world is made up of all different races of equal status.

Do you ever want to travel in your life?? You'd never be able to go to a foreign country with him.

Do you want to have heaps of friends? He would be likely to hand pick your friends due to their race.

You can't change him why would you even try?? He has to realise himself how wrong racism is, look at ALL the hatred in the world right now and in the past.

If you want to stay with him then just accept it or become one too just remember that there is nothing good about being racialist. I personally think you could find someone who was more accepting of people in general...

Maybe he acts this ay to cover up something from his past that he doesn't want anyone to know. I had (the key word is had) a friend acted as if she was perfect. She spoke perfect English and carried herself as if she was better than most people. Some of our mutual friends and I later found that she had even lied about her background (she told us that she was of bi racial descent). We found that everything was a facade designed to prevent us from finding out that she was raised in an extremely dysfunctional family. I am no longer friends with her because there was no reason to lie to me or any of our friends because some of us had come from families that were also dysfunctional while others came from respectful working class families. I have friends from all walks of life and I don't discriminate. I bet if you start asking questions or researching his background you'll find some bones in his closet maybe even a whole skeleton.

So you want a cruddier boyfriend or the one that won't impress his standards on you and you try to meet them? Well if he has high standards he's dating you. I know chicks that won't go out with good looking guys because the don't want to put that much more effort to look better. I thought your bf was 'racist' I'm going to wikapedia racialist good luck with you conundrum

If you dont like his attitude, perhaps you should move on. Sooner or later you will either accept it or regret it.

So choose to accept him as is, or move on to someone more in sync with your ideals.

Though many people do not fully click, they live great lives together.

is this attitude coming from his parents? If he considers that other races are inferior, what is his attitude to women? This sounds a bit harsh, but you need to know.

Have you told him how you feel?
If you can't agree on it then you should do something about it.
