In your place, I would. There will be another reason, Not only will the girl dog be upset, I would be too ! Your girl dog is grieving and you probably are, and may not admit it. Dealing with her grief three months later means you are also ready to find another pet to take care of.
Bless the hearts that take care of other creatures without being asked or expected to do so.

if you get her a friend it will help but right at first she will not take at all to the new dog especially a jack russell they seem to be the smartest breed out there and when they grieve, they grieve for a long time ... once they get over it though they will be happy.. but my jr took like six months to get over my break up with my girlfriend (so there is really no telly how long it could be) she really missed my gf and would sit at the door and wait or when i would talk to her on the phone she would go crazy... i tried giving her to my ex the dog just got angry and wouldn't stop chewing the carpet righ in front of the door... trying to tunnel out... honestly! i have dealt with a lot of breeds but jack russels are the smartest and defineatly the most emotional. i would say wait until at least six months has passed or else she will probably be mean to the new dog just to prove that no dog can take the place of the recently departed. plus it is customary to let the grieving run their course before trying to set them up lol

Aww yeah She will probably be happier just make sure that the new dog likes other doggies. We found a jack russell a couple months ago and she and our other dog are always fighting. But she is really sweet with people. I still cant believe no one claimed her.

I think you should because animals love to have another of their type around. Just make sure you still give them both the same amount of attention

Why not give it a try. I mean if that is what you think will work why not try it. If you never never go, then you'll never never know. Keep trying different things. Somethings just got to work.
