"Dogma" simply means "teaching." In Church, it refers to official teaching. For example, when you hear "the dogma of the Incarnation" it simply means the teaching and faith of the Church regarding the incarnation of the Second Person of the Godhead. Or, the "dogma of the Trinity" simply means the official teaching or faith or theological stand of the Chrisian Church regarding the Being of God - that He exists in a tri-unity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dogma is a set of information that is instilled into people without people having a chance to ask whether it is true. Dogma need not be logical or accurate, and it need not have any reevance to the Truth.

I am sorry to say this, but say it as someone who was also born into a Catholic background, Catholicism is based on one of the worst dogmas ever invented.

Perhaps you felt that in your heart, and that is why you did not go to Catholic classes in years.

If you are interested in a logical explanation about Jesus Christ, God and the Universe, perhaps you could click on "Rational Spirituality" on the Dhaxem website. This is what I now belong to.

Dogma (Greek do/gma, literally "decree") is a doctrine of practice or a body of doctrines formally and authoritatively affirmed. Dogmatics is the study of religious dogmas.

Religious dogmata, properly conceived, reach back to proofs other than themselves, and ultimately faith. Perhaps the pinnacle of organized exposition of theological dogma is the Summa Theologiae by Thomas Aquinas, who proposed this relationship between faith and objection: "If our opponent believes nothing of divine revelation, there is no longer any means of proving the articles of faith by reasoning, but only of answering his objections — if he has any — against faith" (I 1 8)..

Dogmata are found in many religions such as Christianity and Islam, where they are considered core principles that must be upheld by all followers of that religion. As a fundamental element of religion, the term "dogma" is assigned to those theological tenets which are considered to be well demonstrated, such that their proposed disputation or revision effectively means that a person no longer accepts the given religion as his or her own, or has entered into a period of personal doubt. Dogma is distinguished from theological opinion regarding those things considered less well-known. Dogmata may be clarified and elaborated but not contradicted in novel teachings (e.g., Galatians 1:8-9). Rejection of dogma is considered heresy in certain religions, and may lead to expulsion from the religious group, although in the Christian Gospels this is not done rashly (e.g. Mt 18:15-17).

Dogma is meant to control what you think, if your religion has dogma, then its meant to restrict and bog down your thought processes. Ultimately, trying to stunt your mental growth.

its is your religious philosophy and the rules and stigmas that come with it. Its sort of like saying these are the rules and this is what will happen if you don't follow them.
