I want to make a pumpkin pie from an actual pumpkin. But i have no good recipe. HELP!!!

I have gone the route of cooking, mashing, and baking a real pumpkin pie....only to be disappointed. Following the directions on the canned pumpkin label gives you much better results. Something that is good: instead of evaporated milk (and having to add the sugar), use a can of sweetened condensed milk instead. Follow the directions on the can (except add no sugar). I brown my crust for about 10 minutes in the oven before adding the mixture. And those pie crust rings you can get at Bed, Bath and Beyond really do keep your crust from burning....I'm sorry I can't answer your question about using a real pumpkin. It's a lot of work--and the canned comes out better!

THE BEST RECIPE I HAVE EVER FOUND FOR PUMPKIN PIE WAS MY GRANDMOTHER'S!
IT WASN'T UNTIL RECENTLY GOING THRU HER THINGS THAT WE FOUND OUT HER "FAMOUS" PUMPKIN PIE RECIPE WAS OFF THE CANNED PUMPKIN FROM LIBBY'S!!!!! HAHA YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK OUT THERE WEBSITE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!! OTHER THAN THAT I HAVE FOUND ALOT THRU THE BETTY CROCKER AND QUAKER OATS WEBSITES!!!!
