not believing god is definitely real
but also believing that god could be real
in other words god is a maybe

there is no real church of it so there arent really any sort of doctrines of agnosticism to explain, just the definition of it, and so there are a wide range of beliefs that would be classified as agnosticism

An agnostic admits that she doesn't know if there is a God or not.

There are probably many ways to be agnostic. I personally think the Hebrew Bible is myth. The Hebrew Bible is the source for the description of the God that the Jews, Christians and Muslims all believe in, so these groups would all consider me an atheist.

But I think it is possible that there is some kind of god that is nothing like the god of the bible. This makes me an agnostic. Furthermore, I suspect that if there is a god, he/she/it chose to create the universe and physical laws (gravity, electromagnetism, etc.), and then let the universe play itself out without any other ongoing interactions with any part of the universe, meaning that there is no way for us to ever detect any evidence of his/her/its existence. This means that not only do I know know if god exists, I suspect that it simply isn't knowable. In this sense, I am strongly agnostic.

Agnosticism is much easier to explain than theism and atheism. Agnostics believe it is impossible to know whether there is a God or not. Which, considering that 2000 years of search have not gained us a single piece of evidence of god's existence or inexistence, seems to be the most logical stand to take.

Someone who isn't sure if there is a god, that simple. Or to be technical, the state of not knowing if there is a god or what they might be like. Considering that there are about a thousand gods that humans worship, it's not to hard to see why.

An agnostic is someone who does not disprove that there is a god, yet doesn't believe anyways. So they think there's no way to prove a god exists, at the same time you can't deny the existance of him/her/it.

It comes from the Greek agnosis meaning "no knowledge."

The Latin is "ignoramus."

It basically means they are a dumbass.
