I can't even get out of bed on time; and I have THREE alarm clocks! When I tell people I will be there at a certain time, add a few hours and that will be closer. On my second time to a job, I was an hour late! (but of course they still like me). It may be important to note that procrastination runs in my family. I can usually get away with it due to the impressive exuse-making skills I have developed, but I know I need to change before it is too late!

The payoff you acquire for procrastinating is likely motives why you finally end up repeating the trend. Procrastinators positioned off initiatives until eventually the very final achievable 2nd because of the fact, at that l a s t 2nd, there's a burst of power from adrenaline and neurotransmitters released in keeping with the severe stress the thoughts is decrease than. Procrastinators get a organic severe, a organic euphoria, by waiting until eventually there is not extra time to anticipate polishing off the job, if he/she needs to succeed. Many procrastinators are accepted for asserting, "I do my maximum suitable paintings decrease than stress." it is definitely no longer the certainty, besides the indisputable fact that it justifies the waiting as a worth reason. the reality which you're feeling so drained and could quite no longer do the paintings appropriate away is yet another component. while you're drained for all time, it may be which you unknowingly anticipate the push on the final minute because you decide on a advance out of the common on an popular basis fatigue. i've got discovered the confusing way that early and stable instruction certainly prevents the on an popular basis fatigue to 3 quantity....i'm getting a "2nd wind," a clean burst of power because of the fact i'm tackling something it is confusing and that i understand i will conquer the job. Now THAT brings an extremely solid feeling....and that's lots extra suitable than the final-minute under pressure-out power carry and next power crash. (ok, Saccade, be beneficial!) Consistency is what your physique needs, what your thoughts needs, and what you as a guy or woman could locate get away from the ever present psychological fatigue.

Are you sure it is procrastination, not the poor planning, as far as being late everywhere?

I used to be late for school all the time. And by all the time I mean every single day. I got better when I became a teacher myself. LOL. Observe your thoughts. Mine used to be: "OK, I'll stay in bed for another 5 minutes and then I'll just rush up and walk faster" Guess what - I don't walk any faster because I can't. I was already almost running everywhere. Instead, I started thinking "If I'm late a lot of people will be waiting for me and calling me names and you know what - they'd have a point. My students will lose all the respect for me if I'm late". This was a better motivator. Think of consequences right at thet time when your mind is about to come up with an excuse.

Perhaps you are not really procrastinating, but may just be depressed. If it has progressed so that it is worse than before you might consider getting a physical also. I am always late, as is my sister, and two of my daughters. The other two daughters are paranoid about tardiness and always want to be at least 15 minutes early (can you imagine?!)
But really, if you find that you just don't or can't get out of bed, and don't really care if you get somewhere, I would consider the possibility of depression.

Dr. Phil says that people who are late think that they are more important than everyone else. Not sure if that helps cuz I am late too and I don't think I think I am more important. I would say you need to have better time management. For example, if you work in the morning then pick your clothes out the night before, take a shower the night before, don't style your hair, then in the morning you can wet it down and style as usual. Make your lunch at night. Anything you can do ahead to save time in the morning. Hope that helps.

There is something emotionally that prevents you from doing what is necessary. Figure out why you wait so long to get things done and confront this reality.

I find that I wait until the last minute to do things I loathe and can't wait to do the things I love.

If it's your job you dislike, seek to change it.
If it is something in your life, seek to change that.

If there is something you'd rather bei doing than the task you are procrstinating at, try to do more of the pleasurable activity, even if that means making it your career somehow.

1) Learn to enjoy being on time & getting things done more than you enjoy the lateness & excuses.

2) Extrapolate these behaviors 10 years? Is that who you want to be? Who do you want to be? Can you see her? How is she?

3)Consider the effect you have on other people's lives & on your relationships. People learn that they can't count on you. You continue to show people either that you are not in control of your self or that you value your time more than theirs & don't mind showing them. Either way - looks really bad.

4) Consider the effect on your own speech. Doesn't it feel lousy to have to make excuses? Wouldn't it be great to not make lateness (& by extension your habits) the beginning of every conversation?

I suspect that once you start to modify your behavior, you will be amazed that you ever could have lived the way you did.

Good Luck!

Sounds like you have the same problem I do. I just tell myself that it's very important that I get to work on time or I could be fired. That usually helps.
