What's the best book of the Bible for a potential Christian to read - one that won't scare me away?

John (4 book in new test.) is a good place to start. It is one of the more simpler chapters.

The narrative shows how Ruth became an ancestress of David by undergoing brother-in-law marriage with Boaz in behalf of her mother-in-law Naomi. Not understanding it might put you off, but not scare you.

Scare you? *smile*....well...don't start with Revelation, that has some serious warnings in it..and also graphically describes the tribulation period.
Any of the gospels...they are all about Jesus. Romans, a beautiful book, also about Jesus. Psalms, full of comfort and wisdom.

Why would it scare you?
For the NT I like...Galatians, Romans, James, Gospel of John.
OT: Psalms, Proverbs, Ruth

Try the mp3 version of bible. You should be able to find it on net by searching on yahoo or google. I loved it...

Joshua... or Exodus... TONS of bloodhsed, like a good war novel.
