OK people....this is ridiculous. You CAN NOT use dish soap on your pets. You're not even supposed to wash your car with it.

Pet shampoo is especially made for their PH Balance. They have different oils in their skin for a reason. Other human and dish soap and flea medicated stuff is so bad for them it strips their skin from the stuff that their skin and fur needs. Go to the pet store and not PetsMart or Petco. They sell crap...

I have a 26 pound cat that can not clean himself all the time so he needs a bath at least twice a month and he has medium length hair and requires me to bathe him. If your cat is capable of cleaning him/herself then let them do it. Especially if its an indoor cat. If you do bathe him/her use an Oatmeal gentle cat shampoo. It nourishes the skin and the fleas don't like it either. To kill the fleas just use Advantage.

Johnson's "No Tears" baby shampoo and other such very mild shampoos are OK to use. Cat insecticidal or anti-flea shampoos contain more toxins than any baby shampoo at any rate. If I might advice? Bathe your cat only if he/she is too dirty for the normal cat-licking self-bath; or when they soil themselves badly (kittens) or when youneed to apply ant-flea shampoo or when the vet gives you a medicated shampoo for some cat skin condition. Cats are fastidiously clean animals and they normally keep themsleves clean.

Would you eat your shampoo? If not, then dont give it to the cat. My whole family and I swaer by Dawn liquid soap (the old fashioned blue stuff). It kills fleas, and cleans the fur. It is not dangerous to the cat. My vet even said it was ok.

I don't understand the deal with substituting human products for pets. There's reasons why pets have their own shampoo, food, medicine, etc. Don't be a cheapskate. Just buy the proper items meant for your cat and you'll be fine.

use a shampoo called 'hartz' its a shampoo + flee & tick killer.
They have different hair and skin, and human shampoo can be harmful to cats or irritate their skin.

You don't need to give a cat a bath becoase they clean themselves and they don't like water.
But if you just have to give your cat a bath what ever tipe of shampoo you use on your hair will work but get ready for your cat to give you a bath too.

an oatmeal shampoo for cats is the best.
you could use dawn dish soap too.
if you use human shampoo it will cause the skin to dry and flake
and they will itch themselves raw.
hope this helps
