the problem isn't that i can't sleep. it's that i don't want to. i feel as if i would be missing out on the living world if i spent too much time dreaming. I know about insomnia but this just seems a little different.

you arent missing anything while sleeping and staying awake will eventually make u too tired to enjoy any of it..
u have to understand the power or dreams and the world they have.. its a whole other world that you control
also.. dont pressure yourself to get sleep cuz that just llike telling yourself "dont blink" or dont look you have to go to bed without the presure or knowing you have to get up in say 5 hours
try hiding you clock at night and keeping it as dark as possible
and you could use an alarm clock to keep you from "overdreaming" =]

I think you are suffering from insomnia .If really sleeps come, how
could you resist it?Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making small lifestyle changes
like having a fixed daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information at
http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful for getting sleep.

It's called WORRYING FOR NO REASON. Set your alarm to get up early and the world will still be here when you awake. Anything you miss during sleep will be on the morning news.
