Did you enjoy your time on Active Duty overall?

Would you do it again...or even better...would you join a different branch of the US Military if you had to do it all over again?

Tell us your branch and your job (MOS/Rate) if you like when you answer, and if you are still Active Duty, be discrete about it to protect your privacy!

I was in the Navy from 1999 to June of this year. It was great and I got to travel all over the world! I was a graphic artist and photographer. I'd do it again for sure!

I enjoyed jumping out of air planes, and the training in the field. The people I met in the airborne were extraordinary. Great guys. I went to jump school at Bening in 1963. It was hard then. Now they have dumbed it down so little girls can get though. I t makes me sad. I don't know why Scott didn't like Ft. Sill, I loved it. My M.O.S. was 152.10 which is fire direction control. We tell the guns where to point. After jump school my M.O.S. became152.17 The .17 designates jump qualified. I would do it over again. Veit Nam was no picnic. As I was trained in FDC and real good with TOPO maps and a compass, I wound up as the RTO for the FO. In 64-65 the South Vietnamese had ther own air force flying around, and I could swear they tried to drop ther bombs on us a couple of times. At Ft. Sill I had a girl friend and had a ball. Didn't have to spend any money,as she was a dancer at the Fish Bowl, a joint in Lawton Ok. She had money. Loved Ft. Campbell Ky. Had a girl friend in Springfield Tenn. I'd pick her up on the way to Nashville and we'd have a good time. veteranpa, kind of sounds like me. We were - oversexed, under paid , teen aged proffesional killers:) Well enough, if any body should want to join up, go AIRBORNE. You know you can count on the guy next to you!

I am in the Army, Air Defense Artillery Specialty, currently a Major making more than $100,000 with only 10 years of service. Promotion is great, and as Air Defense, I nearly always serve on Airforce bases which have the highest quality of life. I spent my deployments at Prince Sultan Airbase, went to the pool almost every day during the war, enjoying free movies, ice cream, and pop corn every day. Yes, I have had to deploy for a year every three years, but my deployments have been comfortable, and I can now deploy with my family if I volunteer for a long tour. My job is academically quite tough, but what one lacks in innate intellectual aptitude, you can make up for by studying an extra hour or two more than the smart guys. I would definitely do it again, definitely go Army, and definitely go Air Defense.

Out of a 36 month enlistment, I only spent 16 months stateside. The rest was in Viet-Nam, I didn't cook, I didn't shuffle papers........hunting humans was what I did. My MOS was 11B20, I tryed to stay there when I was there, but the powers decided that a 19 year old "kid" shouldn't like being there, so I came home. I would do it again even if there was no war, I was a good enough soldier to do stateside duty. Having gone right to Viet-Nam from jump school, being a short timer when I got back ruined me for stateside duty. All that spit and polish, I was an E-5 when I got back, I discharged a PFC, was lucky to have that............LATER
