she needs to get them cleaned by a vet as soon as possible. They can abcess in her mouth and cause her to lose her appetite and lots of weight and also a great amount of pain. Moist food only makes them worse. The wet food tends to stick to the teeth more than dry food. You can use a gauze square to clean off her teeth of some of the paque, but the rest can be removed by dry food or a dental cleaning by your vet. The anal glands on the other hand can be done, but you should probably be shown how to do them by a vet. To make sure you don't hurt her. It's very easy however. All you need are rubber gloves, lubricant, gauze squares or paper towels, doggy spray ( to make her butt smell good after you do it), and your dog. It usually only has to be done about once every month or every other month. Cleaning them out too often can cause constipation. The diarrhea could be a big issue. I would first fast her for 12-24 hours (dont feed her). water is OK. After that boil some boneless, skinless chicken breast and chop it up good. Also, boil some white rice. Start her with small frequent meals of this and gradually increase over the day. The second day you want to add in some of her regular food. Again gradually increase her regular food while decreasing the boiled chicken and rice. After 6 days you should be at her regular diet food without any chicken and rice. If the diarrhea starts again please take her to the vet.

The fishy smell IS ANAL GLANDS for certain! Our dog smells just like yours. It's sick.
To squeeze anal glands, put a thumb across the anus, horizontally and feel for the glands. They are on the right and left side. They are about 1/2 inch in, so when you feel them, you can feel round thingies.
Get tissue ready...this is the sickest thing you will smell or ever see....and then squeeze them while you pull out and up. Squeeze in one tight squeeze, pull toward you and pull upward. It will squirt out or drain into the napkin.
Please have a strong stomach. It wreaks to high heavens. Smells like a dead salmon.
About her teeth, if they are rotting, she's got to see a vet to have them cleaned.
Moist food rots dog teeth.
Diarrhea....worms, giardia, many different causes. Get her checked at the vet, but you can do the glands yourself.
Good luck!

OMG! You own a pet with diarrhea and rotting teeth, but have no money to help her???? What is wrong with that picture? How do you feed her or vaccinate her if you don't have any money?
You should NOT clean her anal glands at home unless you are a trained professional. You can cause serious problems if you do it yourself. Unless your dog is overweight or is prone to clogged anal glands, she will express them naturally when she defecates. At the vet clinic where I work, it costs $10 for an anal gland expression. You don't have $10? Why do you think her diarrhea is a sign she needs her anal glands expressed? Are you an expert on diarrhea and anal glands? As far as her teeth go, do you not have the money to brush her teeth? Hmmm, a toothbrush and some inexpensive doggie toothpaste. That's what, like $7 at the most? If you are feeding her wet food, or even moist kibble, that's why she has bad teeth. Feed her dry food, it helps knock some of the plaque off, or give her toys or bones to chew on.
If you want my advice, DON'T OWN A DOG UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO CARE FOR ONE!!!!!!! The care includes: food, toys, leash, collar, etc, vaccinations (4 rounds of puppy vax and adult vax every year after unless 3 yr Rabies), dental cleanings yearly, annual wellness exams and bloodwork, spay/neuters, emergencies that will arise, etc.
Call me crazy but don't your kids get taken away from you if you can't afford to care for them? Why should a dog be any different, jeez they're part of your family too.

You clean the glands by taking the dog outside, hold a tissue and lift the tail up high, then gently but firmly squeeze the anus whilst it is pretruding outside, say in the shape of a breast, but squeeze it from the root of that shape, otherwise you push it back in. Than keep your face away, or it squirst at you and it smells badly.
You can scrape much of the tartar very gently but formly with manicure scissors, or with a similar small metal object, if the dog trusts you. But be very carful not to hurt it. For prevention or chemical break-down of tartar buy the Virbac dog Toothpaste that is the abrasive variety.
Feed your dog good quality food, like fresh fish, trout, and such and lamb, and give it somerye bread. Bad diet contributes to the problems you mentions.
Also, are there no animal charities nearby where you live, that could help you with veterinary services?

is the dog old ? is that why the bad teeth?
yes dogs with bad teeth have bad breath. There are teeth and breath products for dogs at Walmart.
I learned to "do" anal glands by visiting an ask the vet site. Not hard to do but very stinky.
The diarrhea is either diet or illness. Make sure dog is not chewing on carpet or other such things. Try pepto bismol or kaopectate. Pepto will cause dark stool temporarily.

soft food is what your dogs problem is from. i suggest a kibble the right size for your dogs breed. a hard dry kibble like NUTRO'S LAMB AND RICE fixed my dogs. if the poop is firm it will clean the anal glands naturally as they pass by them on the way out. also the teeth will clean better with a dry kibble. if your dog is old or real young you may wet the kibble but dont soak it or make it soft . that will defeat your purpose.

Place dog in tub. Place glove on hand, or plastic sandwich bag over pointer finger. With a lubricant rubbed over your finger, gently and slowly insert your finger into the dog's rectum. Press against the walls of the dog's rectum while removing the finger This should express the anal glands. The teeth sound rotted, those do need to be fixed by a vet. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go and vommit.

i dont know about all of your questions, but before you do the gland thing give her/him a tbsp. of regular (no flavored) yogurt.yogurt has the bacteria that is missing which causes diahrea. my dogs are ten pounds and thats what i give them for diarhea. or some kind of pepto. as for the teeth my 13yr old rott had broken rotting teeth right before she passed, and yes her breath stank. but she ate squirrles and all that. people on here are so rude. especially the vet tech wanna be. hope you have better luck.

you're able to do it at homestead...yet like has been suggested, it truly is quite messy and pungent. call your vet, he would possibly no longer value for an workplace pass to to have it finished...groomers additionally exhibit anal glands.
