I do not believe God would do the hell forever thing...It just makes NO SENSE at all...the heaven, hell and purgatory(catholic) and Limbo (also catholic) are totally WACK...
That would be like a parent throwing their kid into a well just because they weren't perfect enough... I just don't believe a Just and Loving Entity would do that....Me thinks some is mens imagining God to have their moods and whims, making him fallible. People give God too much blaim and credit for the things that happen in life.
I think bad people are isolationists and mistrustful of others so whatever is after your spirit leaves your body I'm sure they are as lonely and tormented as they were in life...

From a Christian perspective? That still depends on the belief.
A fire-and-brimstone approach believes that all good people are capable of being sent to Hell. Unless you follow their rules, your deeds mean nothing. There is only one thing you need to do. So, yes, rapists can go to Heaven if they only accept Christ on their deathbeds, while good people like Gandhi go to Hell.
A more friendly approach is that God is love. If God is love, then he is incapable and/or unwilling to perform vile acts. As such, he would never send anyone to Hell, regardless of their beliefs. The rapist would be sent to Heaven, for even someone as wicked as he would not be deserving of an eternity of punishment. And you can bet that Gandhi would be there too.
A more realistic approach is that God weighs the merits of people, and their beliefs in theology don't matter. So, the rapist would be punished, even if he accepted Christ at the last minute. And Gandhi would be in Heaven, even though he never had a good reason to convert to Christianity.
So, it depends on how you look at it.

I don't want to give you the wrong answer, but I do know one thing-- no one can tell you the answer to your question. If you live a good life and know about God or doesn't who knows where you'll go. We aren' dead yet, so we'll just have to wait 'till the time comes to get the answer thats right, bbecasue in this case, different people will give you different answers.

When non-Christians die, they're dead. They stay dead until Judgment Day. (See Revelations). They will be judged according to their works, and the bad guys will be chucked into a lake of fire. Presumably the good guys, no matter what their religion, go to Heaven.

Bad people go to Heaven too because there can't be a worse Hell for bad people than to be surrounded by good people. Plus, how would all the good people know that they're good unless they had a basis for comparison?

Where do the bad people go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go to a lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again until the 4th of July! - Nirvana

I don't believe in hell...it's a Christian invention to scare people into becoming a Christian.

If you are faithful to God and walk with Him in all your life's journeys, then of course you will meet Him in Heaven :)
Oh, and I'm a Christian btw. Not all of us feel that everyone but Christians will go to hell lol. Jesus Himself said "But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you." That shows me that not everyone is supposed to be a Christian.
