this is sort of like comparing and orange and an apple but even they can be compared

the Navy is pretty big and have the most advance stuff

however the Marines really are the few and the proud they are really Mobile and lethal and capable of invading any country the fastest

well the navy and the marines are both run more efficiently than the army, but the marine men and women are the most hardcore so I'd say the marines

As a Marine I am proud to be in a "Department of The Navy" our Navy is the finest in the world and I have met some of the greatest friends in both. There will be cocky asshats from either branch boasting of how they are the next best thing to a Ninja and better trained than any other branch. I love all the branches. I know of an Air Force Captain, F-16 driver who had the tasker for our close air support, he saved my platoons a s s...point is we all have our purpose and none is better than the other.

TO imxxlboxers: sorry you couldnt hack the Marines or got turned down...I had to have a Diploma to join when I joined...oh and BTW you can get in on a GED in all but certain jobs in the Airforce...educate before insult brother-Jarhead stems from the Style Haircut we have...freakn unsat idiot.

The marines require a highschool education, the navy does not, my best friend joined the navy without a highschool education.
The marines require the second highest asvab scores of any service. They have the highest requirements to join.

After going to both the naval base at norfolk, and the marine platoon nearby(they dont have a large base near norfolk, unlike all other services) I have to say the marines are far far better in training and physical condition.

The Navy is much better.

The Marines will take any able bodied person whether or not they have much upstairs in the brain department. They are definitely the brawn and not the brain. You don't have to have a High School diploma to get in the Marines. This is why they are called Jarheads. The Marines always land first on enemy soil, being put first in harm's way.

You have to be a High School graduate to get in the Navy. The higher paying jobs are in the Navy.

The difference is the same as the Army which will take any able bodied person and the Air Force which only take folks with brains.

navy.of course i am biased since i served in the navy.and the navy and marines are not the same. they are 2 completely different branches.they are both under the dept. of navy.i served on a amphibious ship with about 600 marines on it and would never have told a marine that they were in the navy.

The Marines are a part of the Navy.
The Navy can not take care of its self so they made the USMC to babysit them and guard all their bases and so they would have a go- fer on the ships.
USMC - Jar heads, leather necks, first in and the last to leave.
Navy - LOL, ROGLMAO never mind.

USMC is the best combat trained infantry in the world, but can not get to the battle without their sea faring brothers.

Better at what? They are two very different militaries. You will deal with two very different types of people in the Navy and the Marines. You will have two different types of training, two different types of jobs...

Different tasks/training etc. Both are the best in the world at what they do. Navy Vet here but have greatest respect for the Corps and its tradition. Anyone who wears that uniform has earned it the hard way. Semper Fi to them.

The navy. Without the navy, the marines would be trying to hitch a ride to battle.

The Marines are better at amphibious warfare.
The USMC is actually part of the dept. of the Navy, but they go through different training.
