hi, I am chemical engineer who want to work in Montréal in my professional field, everyone know that Montréal is bilingual, I know French fairly at conversation, poor at writing but I am good at English and also my BS graduation is in English, now I am wonder if for an engineering work in Montréal I can do with my English ability, or obligatory I should use just French, you consider that in French I am not familiar with its professional words of engineering and thus it's hard to me to understand the documents, reports and even making reports in French. would you pleased to lead me how I should plan realistically. sincerely

I am concentrating mainly on the engineering documents which make the work so difficult in French, please consider it for your answer.

My dad is a retired engineer who worked in Montreal for much of his career. He can order a beer in French and thank the barmaid for it, but that's about it. BUT although he was employed by a Montreal-based company, he did a lot of his work on projects outside Quebec, so that may be the key.

You might get some answers from the chemical engineering department of McGill University. Another option would be to take a "French for Engineers" type course, I think the Ecole Polytechnique might be a good source for that.

Montreal is a great city!

It seems as though the Germans gained this conflict. Why would not something of Europe extra effective themselves with the English language as a replace? It has taken GB hundreds of years to at last agree on a usual kind of our English language following its roman, germanic and french invasions. it seems that we are being invaded in a diverse way yet invaded each and all the comparable. it truly is going to cost thousands and thousands to re-artwork transcripts of the bible and different literary works. at an identical time as I relish the background of previous English I plenty desire the well-liked, after all it is the twenty first century no longer c400. I see any substitute as in basic terms yet another kind of elitism that does no extra effective than to act as a secret language nay weapon for those in capacity.
