Something I've always sort of wondered, why is it that some religious people talk as if no one believes?

I know that's probably not most people, but, for example, people like televangelists, like Pat Robertson. Most people who really watch the 700 Club are believers, and those that are going to believe him are believers. Buy why does he talk as if none of them are? It's like he assumes that none of his audience are Christians...when the majority surely are.

Never quite understood that.

Because Christians are psycho, and they're just hoping that maybe some non believer will flip to the channel and suddenly think Jesus is real because some nutty pastor says he is.

He is hoping that there are people watching who have never heard the truth and will become believers! It is true most of the people who watch the 700 club are already Christians!
The job of an evangelist is to preach the Gospel!

Not quite. He along with others spreading the message of Christ, know that along with people that do believe, some people that dont will wander by their channel, radio show or whatever; and those are the people we really need to reach out to.

Mark 2:17-When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

I think the way some preachers talk is a technique for getting people to listen. If you speak like you have authority or like you are very confident in what you're saying, you get people's attention more.
It may not be that they think others don't believe. It could just be their way of speaking.

PAT ROBERTSON IS, AS YOU SAID A TELEVANGELIST. I CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEM BECAUSE I AM A SIMPLE PASTOR OF A SMALL BAPTIST CONGREGATION.

THE MAIN BURDEN OF ANY CHRISTIAN SHOULD BE TO PRESENT THE GOSPEL IN ORDER THAT THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE WILL.

A TRUE PREACHER PRESENTS IT WITH LOVE, HOPING THAT THOSE WHO HEAR WILL ACCEPT IT AND BE SAVED.

IT COMES FROM A BURDEN FOR PRECIOUS SOULS.

Such people have messiah complexes. They believe they have a special mission from God. What is the mission? The mission is an end in itself. It's what makes them special. So, being better than everyone, they talk down to everyone.

I like to Hear GOD Talk through other People, no matter who they are.
Spirit Beareth Witness to Spirit.
Learn to Hear with your Spirit, AFTER you Hear with your Ears.

They're probably not concerned as much with those of us who are already believers. Their main objective is to convert, convert, and convert.

Because they are not trying to get you to grow as Christians, they are trying to recruit new people. New people = new money.
