I had chemo. I forget stuff too. I say chemo brain, mostly joking. I tell people it may have killed one to many brain cells. So maybe they were just joking.

no cure. however, there is treatment with narcolepsy medication and/or add meds.

i am supposed to take strettera (non-stimulating and non addicting) and a med for narcolepsy.

the theory is that the veins that run into the brain have shrunk, lessening blood flow.

i call my issue chemo brain and i am post 5 years treatment for hepatitis c in which antiviral chemotherapy is used. i had the same problem however, prior to chemo from the hepatitis c itself as well as the toxins my liver was unable to filter.

lot's of water seems to lessen the "chemo brain" side effect, but is minimal.

just wish i was more confident on taking the meds. i have taken one stretterra and two of the narcolepsy meds and i have had the prescription for 6 months. i'm a chicken.

Chemo brain is real. Do a google search on it to get lots of sites. Google it both as one word and as two words. Chemo brain is cognitive impairment following chemo therapy. I have it big time. Most of the times I can manage it by being concious of keeping lists, calendars, etc. Best wishes to you and your Grandmother.

My husband had chemo, no it isn't a joke, they forget things even simple things, the world is like they are in a fog.then they get upset with themself that makes it worse for them because it is the chemo that does that.but they will not understand that, they blame their self, till they get off chemo it stays. a side affect.it is actually called chemo fog not chemo brain.there are a lot of side effects to any chemo. talk to her DR.so she will be comfortable. GOD BE WITH ALL YOUR FAMILY. I lost husband feb 10 2006 he also had lung cancer 13mo.

i took chemo for 6 mo and i call it a "fog". i'm 29 yrs old, and my short term memory was so sharp before chemo, but now, not so good. they told me this would happen, but i didn't believe them...it's true. it's not like you forget people or anything, but the short term is a little bad. let's put it this way......my life now is a big post it!

ChemoBrain is real, it gets worse and you will have to learn to live around a disability that others do not understand. This is a serious problem that those of us that have lived beyond cancer for a period of time are experiencing. My last treatment was in 1989. Today, I am still a young male, and having horrible memory and mental function problems directly related to the chemotherapy drugs. ChemoBrain suffers live in a world that we live around sometimes, not in. There has to be major studies done!!!! Please email me your thoughts on this, any experience you may have or any studies you may be aware of. waycho2004@yahoo.com
