You can love anyone. Your actions have to be appropriate. You don't have to behave inappropriately regarding their relationship. It would be good for you to look elsewhere for that type of love...very good.

It's always okay to love someone.
BUT you need to remember the old saying "do unto others as you would have others do unto you." If you were in the position of his girlfriend, and someone else tried to come between you (and we've all been there before!), then how would you feel.

depends on what you mean by love....it is wrong if you love him in the wrong way when they are both your friends...and there is no future in feelings for him if he is in love with your friend...i would not ever do anything remotely to let them know this...i would probably spend as less time with them as possible...go on and make your own life and maybe meet someone that loves you in return....

I don't think it's possible to choose who you fall in and/or out of love with. It's simply human nature. However, I would reflect on this from many angles. You may really be in love, or simple fascination, wanting what you "can't have", etc.
