is it illegal to have only 1 working highbeam... I will not use either if I cant get away with no highbeam. I have still two working head lights, I just removed the highbeam.

because I took one out for a ram air intake, and now my father says that i must put it back in becuase its the law, however i disagree... i have driven passed many police without having any issue at all. I think he just dislikes the way it looks.

If you're actually USING the highbeam, they're supposed to both work. If not, who cares? There's no law that says you must use your highbeams. Just that both regular headlights must work.

gurl dont listen to the ones that say it is illegal because i had the same problem u are having with ur dad my dad finally called the state police and they said as long as i have 2 working low beam and did not turn my high beams on at all until i got another one then it was not illegal but it was safer to have high beams incase u need them like out in the country because you can see animals such as deer better do not just dive with one high beam though u can get a ticket for that.

In Illinois, as in most states I am sure, you must have 2 working low-beam headlights. High beams I am not sure about but for safety reasons and relatively cheap costs, why not replace them?

not always....dependes if you need them in your area or not .....laws vary from state to state but having said that you have 1 working 1 so flash a pretty smile and tell the nice officer that you had no idea n thank him very much but get a new 1 soon cheap n easy to fix

There's a loop hole law, as long as you remove the light, then they can't say the light isnt working because it's not there. Like a cracked windshield, if you take it out, then it will pass inspection.

You need to verify with your city and state laws. Some states may not require high beams.
