Hi there...many of the commercially available cat food products sold in supermarkets contain corn, corn meal which ferment as it broken down within the digestive system leading to very stinky poo. However, this also depends on the animal's genetics as well. Like humans, when two people eat the very same thing one person's business may stink to high heaven moreso than another (we can't compare our own poo since we'd obviously be biased.) I have two cats who's genetic makeup are quite different from one another (F1 Bengal --1/2 wild & 1/2 domestic -- and Abyssinian). They both eat the same identical high premium quality foods yet the Bengal's poo is so strong it would make a good substitute for chloroform, where the Aby's isn't so bad and is very tolerable.
Some of the high protein cat foods (which contains no corn based products or byproducts) found only at specialty pet stores such as Innova EVO, Life's Abundance, Nature's Variety Prairie may help minimize the stinky calling cards, but again it truly depends on the cat's genetic makeup. They are quite expensive compared to the supermarket brands, but if your intended goal is to lower the overall gas chamber effect you may need to experiment which works best.

Sardines always smells bad as 'poop'.
Try a balanced diet, some fibre, some protein. It will lessen the smell. But it will still smell.
Interestingly enough, male poop tends to smell more than female poop, because of their hormones.
Also, try diposing of it quickly, before the microbes start to break it down... The better it is covered when it's umm 'deposited', the less it will smell.
I guarantee if you ate fish and other higher proteins for a week and had to poo in a box or in the yard, yours would smell just as offensive.

Its the protein. Try finding a food that has more veggies in it and not the animal bi-products. From a independent pet store. Not a Petsmart or Pet-co.
I have my cats on a special food and their urine and poop isn't half as bad as it used to be. Its called Hills Prescription Diet. You have to get it from your vet.

It has to do with what you're feeding the cat. They do sell cat food that cuts down on the smell, but it's expensive.
Also, don't go cheap on the litter. The pricier stuff really is worth it as far as odor control.

Your poop smells, my poop smells. That's just the way it is. We have a wonderful system for disposing of ours so that it is less obnoxious for us. The cat has no alternative but to use his litter box and you need to dispose of it as he can't.

Some days it does, some days it doesn't. Depends on what they eat, just like us. A good litter box filler is good, don't use cheap litter filler. I recommend, clump free Fresh Step. Not the clay litter fillers. They hang on to smells. With sand type you can scoop out the litter and have a fresher box, then add a little as you scoop out the bad.
Try it, it works!

Well first of all its POOP its gonna smell, but it will smell worse if you feed your cat bad food like friskies and fancy feast, also IAMS. I found natural balance made it not as potent becuase it is very nutritional

If you havent tried the kitty litter with the blue crystals in it, you should! I cant remember the name, but it comes in a bag or in a plastic container that you can see through! The blue crystals are the very best! Don't let the price scare you away! They work twice as well. So, if you are lazy like me you won't have to change it as much! It's worth it!
