try to give her some moral support and try to put in some will power in her as well also some counsellin can be handy too. i know that this will be a tough time to adjust and persuade yer sis and also to try to stop smokin, but this cant be done in a day, hence, rome was not built in a day!! besides, its impossible to stop at once and needs to be done slowly and step by step. try reducin the number of cigars per month, then per two weeks and then finally per day...nicotine patch shouldnt hurt, try doin other/another useful and interestin thing[s], whenever the urge to smoke comes. give a pat or treat in a good and useful manner.. i know this is difficult to do so and it takes a lot of time and patience too..trust and believe as it will eventually succeed and do take it from me whao was once a heavy smoker and finally got through and quit smokin...pls dont give up nor loose hope on yerself and yer sis and find many ways to help out too, its better to be safe than sorry!! and yer sis has to compromise and cooperate too..

Tell her a smoker friend said to switch to American Spirits, they're all natural and they take so dang long to smoke you actually save money by buying them because you'll smoke less.

What you Don't tell her is she'll not want to smoke any other cigarette because after getting used to American spirits, you can taste the formaldehyde in the other brands. Yech!

She'll quit on her own, any intervention is just going to piss her off.
Invite her to go hiking or kayking with you: Healthy activities for both of you that don't encourage hand-to-mouth boredom.

Oh gosh, well Im a smoker and from my point of view people that nag me or keep telling me to quit Im just going to smoke just because everybody wont leave me alone about it .

I know you love your sis as my husband and my mom loves me , but to be honest it has to be her choice and her choice alone. Till she makes that decison on her own there really isnt thing you can do but just to love her anyways and hopefully one day she will quit .

Good Luck

You have very valid concerns. She is obviously addicted. She needs a visit to a cancer center where she can see folks with lung cancer and emphasema. She needs to see a trach. She needs to see this in young people who have made the same choices as she.

Stop nagging, She will stop when she feels like it. The more you complain the more she will smoke.
