There is a direct commissioning program. Talk to the recruiter about it. You attend boot camp, followed by OCS, and become an officer.
It is open for the following specialties:
Engineering Duty Officer
CryptologyOfficer
Intelligence Officer
Merchant Marine Officer
Public Affairs Officer
Oceanography Officer
Medical Programs – Medical, Dental, Nurse, and Medical Service Corps
Supply Corps Officer
Chaplain Corps Officer
Civil Engineer Corps
If those specialties don't appeal to you, you can do 2 years of college level ROTC (even when working on your masters or PHd) and have all the fields available.

The best thing to do is graduate from college first and then apply directly for OCS. Officer training is just as intense as bootcamp. If you want to enlist first then apply for OCS, I'm not sure of the timelines. BUT, a friend of mine graduated bootcamp and applied for OCS while still undergoing training for his specialty. So he spent only about 1 year as an enlisted Marine. It's possible to do this, but I think your best bet is to get the degree first and then try for OCS. Your Marine recruiter should have all the details.

Well, the term "mustang" officer generally refers to one who's enlisted, and then becomes an officer. Either through OCS or battlefield commision. If you're in the Marine Corps, you'll go through the same basic training regardless.

Why bother going enlisted if you already have a degree and are otherwise qualified to be Comissioned? technically speaking,a Mustang is someone who advanced at least to E6 before making the jump over to the O side of the house. That usually takes more than 4 years.
Officer candiates go through their own version of Boot camp. Physically demanding, but more emphasis is placed on developing Leadership qualities.

Join the ROTC program, then talk to a Marine recruiter and take a delayed entry. You'll go to boot during the summer with ROTC and may-be even AIT. You should be ready for Iraqi by the time you get out of school. If you really want to make a career of this you'll want to design your college program and classes for the Corp. Good Luck! Good night "Chesty" where ever you are"!

Finish your degree and then go talk to an officer recruiter... not the enlisted guy!!! You would have to wait AT LEAST 4 years and make E5... why not just join as an officer... go to OCS and be a leader from the very beginning...

I think you can go to OCS after you reach E-5 (Seargent in the Corps). You need college though so you should definately finish school. I don't know how the other services do it but I am somewhat sure that is how the Corps does it.

ok - an exceptionally complicated question to deal with sensitively! I served the two contained in the ranks, and as an officer - and develop into married as quickly as I made the transition. Now, i'm Canadian Forces, yet, there are some comparable issues. A family frequently gets it truly is prestige from the serving individual's rank. So, a private's family will "rank" under a generals. of direction, civilians don't have rank! yet, some protection rigidity better halves take their husband's rank as their own, and a few could be extra rank wakeful than their husbands. I worked for a significant who develop into very laid back - people slightly stated as him sir, and he did no longer care in any respect. His spouse, on the different hand, virtually presented herself as "Mrs. significant" - that develop into the comedian tale. She develop into Mrs. call, the spouse of significant call. She continuously enable people comprehend in basic terms who she develop into, and her husband's rank. She develop into certainly a superb lady too, yet, so plenty extra fussed approximately rank than he develop into. And, this develop into no longer an uncommon concern in any respect. How a good number of this you do is entirely as much as you. In Canada, we've different messes or golf equipment for socializing. E.g., a non-commissioned member can not enter an Officer's Mess, and vice versa. So, in case you pass to a functionality on the Officer's Mess, your friends married to non-officers can not pass. And, you may no longer pass to theirs the two. yet, do no longer examine too plenty in to this. in case you reside off base, case in point, no-one is going to truly care that your husband is protection rigidity, no longer to show what rank he's. As a pharmacist, he will in all risk no longer be all gung-ho great military protection rigidity besides. And, at 27, with any luck you have some adulthood, and this could all no longer impact you too plenty! So, countless the stereotypes are actual, in spite of the shown fact that those issues are actual fading. And, you do no longer would desire to purchase in to those issues in any respect. whether, your habit will mirror on your husband's, so, while it comprises promotions and such, what you do can certainly rely to him. yet, "perfect" behaviour will serve you maximum suitable. Being neither snooty, no longer overly attentive to others is the main suitable thank you to be. that's, in certainty, they far extra everybody is. i think of you would be fantastic.
