Burping in somebody's face is never right.
But when I eat lunch with coworkers, sometimes I get really annoyed at those people who think they have the right to comment on what other people are eating. Or they even will ASK you what it is... did you make it yourself?.... where did you get it?.... what's in it?.......
yada, yada, yada.

No you weren't "in the right" that's just disgusting. How could you possibly think it's OK to burp in a coworker's face? You clearly have different standards of personal conduct than I do.

A little kindness goes a long way. Never be rude.
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!

Your reaction was inappropriate. Regardless of what she said. Be the better person and at least apologize for your action. A better approach would have been to ask for a suggestion on how to improve your food.

It was childish to burp in her face, but I'm assuming you already know that. No you weren't in the right. You should probably try not to burp in people's faces from now on. If it's too difficult to refrain, maybe you could just burp in their general direction and not directly on to the face.

While her comment was highly inappropriate and down right offensive, your reaction was horribly unprofessional as well. Unfortunately, your action could be a serious HR violation if your co-worker chose to file a complaint against you. I would apologize, even if forced, and avoid this co-worker from this point on.

The behaviour of both of you was rude and unnecessary.
Your co-worker was out of line to have said that your food stunk, and your response to her words was also rude.

Absolutely not! Just because someone else is rude and as no etiquette does not mean you should lower your own standards.
If you want people in the future to respect you than show you have more substance than being rude.

You should have told her that if she didn't like the smell of it, then she didn't need to have any. Your taste is up to you, but I do think that you were a bit disgusting to burp in her face.

In your heart of hearts you are convinced that what you did is wrong. That is the reason you have asked this question. Otherwise why do you ask the whole world whether what you did is wrong? Your own conscience is the best judge.
