and if so..is it a good idea or worth it?
We are going for a week and I am wondering if it is worth buying.
It is $1000 for a family of 4 for one week.
Includes one breakfast, one snack and drink and then one nicer dinner with a full meal including appetizer, dessert and non alcoholic drink. What do you think?

My parents came down to Orlando for a visit and stayed at a Disney Hotel...they bought the Disney meal plan and loved it...however, since they were staying "on property" and didn't rent a vehicle, they were pretty much limited to Disney restaurants and food vendors, which anyone will tell you, have quite a hefty "mark up" in terms of price when compared to non-resort area dining. If you're not renting a car and are going to be on Disney property for the duration of your trip, I'd definitely go with the meal plan. HOWEVER, if you're going to have your own transportation or are not staying on Disney property, I'd have to recommend NOT doing the meal plan, and having your bigger meals at some of the many restaurants located near the Disney resort area...you'll find just as good if not better food, more choices, and MUCH lower prices then Disney could offer, meal plan or no meal plan.

If you do go with the plan, I'd strongly suggest you become very familiar with your dining options/limitations and the plan "rules" BEFORE you go. Without getting into specifics, it turned out that my parents were told something regarding their dining plan by the Disney employee who made the reservations, that was, in fact, incorrect...so just make sure you double-check everything BEFORE your vacation so there are no little "suprises". :-)

I received it for my upcoming shuttle and am soo excited approximately it. We have had the constant plan final 12 months however w/ this years difference of no appetizer and no tip integrated, we opted to move for the deluxe plan considering that we constantly purchase a couple of person breakfasts and pay out of pocket. The constant plan isn't ample, considering that it is like best two foods an afternoon. We rise up early and keep out particularly past due. Our reservations are commonly: a person breakfast 8am, desk carrier lunch at 3pm, and a desk carrier dinner at 9pm. I'm excited that there are two snacks consistent with day w/ the deluxe. We can get plenty of sweets to carry residence. Last time we received a large bag of path combine for a snack credit score. The refillable mug for on the lodge is a well aspect of the deluxe plan too. I dont consider we will use that each one that on the whole regardless that. We'll see. Overall the plan used to be more cash however allowed us to do a little signature eating as good as devour three foods such a lot days. We more commonly spend 2 hundred$ for 2 deciding to buy a couple of person breakfasts, nevertheless w/o tipping integrated, we will be spending one more 250$ on pointers. Oh good.

It depends. If you really want to try a lot of the sit-down restaurants then it is a good deal. If you want to maximize your time riding rides, and/or prefer fast food, then you could save money without using the plan. We've done both before and I must say that it is way convenient to not have to pull money or cc out all the time when using the plan. We also ate at some really nice restaurants (California Grill). We just got back from Disney a few weeks ago and used the plan then - we were lucky enough to book during a 'special' when Disney offered the Dining Plan for free with hotel/park admission package purchase. Saved a TON of money.
Have fun!

It's worth it if you are just going to stay in the Disney reorts. If you are not going to be Disney the whole week, I suggest you don't purchase the plan because then you won't be able to eat outside of Disney.

Universal Studios also has a meal plan in the parks. Maybe you can purchase a smaller plan... I don't know if you will be going to Universal at all.

My girl and her whole family went recently and loved the dining plan. Far less hassle, and they found it saved them money. We've booked it for our trip in January as well.

I have and it is less of a hassle. Me and a friend would split a meal to make our tickets go further.
